I was just wondering whether you people think Fevola is capable of kicking 100 goals in a season and how long do you think it will take him to get to the milestone

Put him in Port Adelaide or Brisbane an he will get it. What you have to remeber is that he had very poor delivery the last 2 years. IMO with an improved midfield next year will kick 60+ again but hopefully for Carlton atleast 80.

No, dont think he ever will.
I am tipping he will have an ordinary year in 2005 and Dennis will end up trading him and Whitnall . Dennis wont put up with too much crap

pretty stupid call considering his last 2 seasons have been very good in a side that has struggled to deliver the footy accurately on a consistent basis.

I believe he has the ability to boot a tonne. But anywhere between 70-90 is great return for permanent full-forwards these days.

Exactly.

And he has been very poor in some games as well.

As were Lloyd, Gehrig & Neitz at various stages of the season.

It was obviously highlighted by his low-light performances against St. Kilda & Brisbane (although he actually performed well in that game when shifted to CHB).

I dont see too many Carltonians going out on a limb saying that he IS a superstar - unlike the previous mentioned players & the wraps put on them by their clubs.

What he is is a player who has turned the corner in a MASSIVE way, from almost being shown the door...........to a player that has kicked 130 odd goals in 2 years in a poor performed side.
He has won several games off his own boot & kicked pressure goals at key times to win games - eg Adelaide.

His salary I would dare say would be well under that of the above mentioned players & he is a good 3 or more years younger than any of those 3 guys.

His importance to Carlton is huge, & would be a devastating player at Brisbane or WCE.

I think he may only be 1 year older than Mcdougall for WCE & if you had the choice of either, I'm sure most clubs would prefer FEV as he is a match winner & will improve.

In my opinion Fevola is a player who has the natural gifts to be a superstar. However he needs to be honest to himself and admit that he has a self belief problem.

Whilst he may seem confident I believe he is really an insecure person. He far too often plays the victim both on and off the field. Having said this I have also seen him off the field as a very compassionate and real person off the field at times. He is especially real when in his comfort zone with kids and older people.

If he is to take the next step he needs to rate himself in all company. As a footballer he needs to just focas on each contest and play as a grounded and secure person. His ability has never been in question. For the record I believe Norman is in a similar boat.

Fevola is on the verge of becoming a superstar of the competition. he's already getting all the publicity from the footy show to go with it.
With better supply from the midfield, and a further improved carlton team in 2005, he could get close to 100. i'm thinking more like mid 80s though.

he has kicked 6X goals this year, needed another 3X to kick 100, if he took some contested marks he can kick that extra 3X goals.
Unfortunlatey he doesn't take contested marks so he will never kick 100!

If we build a midfield that gives him enough supply and puts it infront of him rather than lands them at his feet or over his head, he can kick 100 every year. There aren't many better finishers from anywhere within 55 metres in the league. The hissy fits have to end though.

I would put myself out on a limb to say Brendan Fevola is one of the top 5 forwards in the competition and believe me he will become a superstar in the near future if he isnt already. I think he is more versatile than Lloyd, Gehrig or Neitz and hasnt reached his peak as yet while the former three have. Brendan Fevola .... Bring it on!!

I like Fev but to say he is more versatile than Neitz and Gehrig is a bit rich considering both Neitz and Gehrig can play at both ends of the ground.

It's his consistency and his brain that are his own worst enemy.

agree. When Llyod or Neitz have a bad one at at least they contribute in some way. Unfortunately Fev is still coming to terms with understanding that full-forwards cannot kick a bag every week.

Exactly right. And that the ball wont hit his chest every time it's kicked - cos currently we only have that sort of skill when we're really in the clear (ie, not often in the past two seasons).

I believe he can. In the first 13 games of the season, he kicked over 50 goals. If he didn't get reported I believe he could have easily kicked 80+ goals considering the form he was in, but missing 2 games than coming back and kicking only 1 goal 5 must have really hurt his condfidence. He did have a bad patch between round 16 and 20, and was very innaccurate.
IMO he can kick 100, but first he will have to improve his consistency and not give up if he isn't having a good day.

I think he can but only with a few improvments to the side..

1) Better, Smarter delivery
2) Fevola to keep presenting. (even if he just makes long looping leads just to open the 50 for Whitnall).
3) Club has a 100% improvement on defensive pressure in our forward line. (hoping for a big rise in goals that do not come from a lead and mark)
