We allready have Riewoldt, Hughes and Schulz not getting a game, getting Fev would mean these 3 guys may as well be offloaded. Shouldnt even consider trading for Fev.

riewoldt and hughes are very much development players any games they play atm is a bonus. the reason they are getting games, well hughes anyway, is because most of the older kpp we have are hacks.snaring fevola would be great for the rfc and the kids around him. but at what cost is the question. our first round pick is sacrosanct but with a spare second round pick you could trade for fevola like say a second round pick plus say cogs or pettifer would do.

with 2011 in mind we have just 7 kpp on the list who are young enough to be there in this yr. hughes mcguane pattison polak riewoldt schulz and thursfield. of these 3 have big question marks hanging over them.theres no guarantee schulz mcguane and pattison will last past their current contracts. and pattison is being classified by all and sundry as a ruckman.

add to this the fact that richo will be retired gaspar has and hall and kingsley will be delisted. if rumors are right hall will retire at the end of the yr anyway.

people shouldnt be kidding themselves our kpp stocks are in terrible shape and our ruck stocks are worse. we dont have an abundance of kpf or kpb and by sticking with what we have and doing nothing means we are sticking all our eggs in one basket.

between now and 2011 we need to introduce at least 12 kpp ruckmen to our list. if we have to develop every single one we wont be ready for finals by 2011.i wouldnt be adverse to us taking 2 ruckmen and 3 kpp in our first 5 picks this yr. this draft is strong in kpp and ruckmen.
the 2008 draft we can focus on inside onballers who take less time to develop.

i love fev but i wouldnt want him at the club

our forwardline is the least of our worry's, its still crap but not as bad as our ruck division, kp back stocks or midfield rotation which all need desperate attention asap

agree with that - as most know - also have a carlton membership - and i don't think fev's attitude will be helping our lack of leadership issues one iota

a brilliant player, when he is on and happy, he is very likeable, a great leader and an elite afl player.
but the other side of the coin is when he isnt happy he is none of these things - and he is the kind of fool who always finds trouble for himself.
a selfish selfish man - we have had enough of them over the years at richmond

some may say richo is a sook - but fevola is a prat

NEVER.

We've had enough love/hate relationship over the years with Richo. No more please. People like that can get you into the Top 8, but you never win Premierships with them.

Look at B/L, Port, Essendon. Yes some overly confident players, but none of them were undisciplined on the field.

But if we get Fev and have him and Richo in the seniors, there is really only room to develop 2 key forwards at Coburg. Where are anymore key forwards we draft going to develop?

The way I look at it, Barry Hall was a clown before he left St Kilda. So was Everitt. Lockett too, in some ways.

All these guys knuckled down after being traded. Everitt is still a goose but played damn good football.

Given that he's contracted the Blues have the upper hand unless he really goes off the rails and simply cannot be allowed to stay at Carlton. I don't think we'll be prepared to trade what Carlton would want. It will end up a nil all draw and he'll stay at Carlton next year, I think.

I would be prepared to give him a try though.

I think Richo and Fev in the same forward line may be unworkable - a bit like our Taylor/Roach predicament.

Richo is slowly being brought back to the square, where he should remain until the end of his career. On the half forward line he struggles with his now massive turning circle, is starting to be run-down with loose ball gets and has a shocking clanger and turnover rate from this part of the field. Fevola moved further up the ground would then loose some of his impact.

May have made sense in 2005 but not much sense in 2008.

would you be prepared to give up 2 first rounder for him? or pick one and perhaps schulz ? he is their best player mate - they will want way too much for him in my opinion - if fev sooks with the delivery at carlton - he won't be any better with the delivery of our midfield - also, him and pettifer in the same forward line worries me also

we should pass - take kruezner and try and lure a good young player with our PSD - and maybe a meesen or something for a meyer or schulz. lets not try and "get rich quick"

Like I said, it will end up a nil all draw. Unlike last time, Carlton hold all the aces (unless he self destructs on a Ben Cousins scale).

<edit> Just saw the thread about Fev and Burswood, perhaps he is self destructing off field as well...

I would be prepared to lose a 2nd rounder and handy player. No more. They wont accept that. And Sydney (for example) have a track record of coveting exactly that kind of player. It's a sellers market this time round and I can't see us getting him.

Would we want him and should we pay fair odds for him are two different questions.

last time around we wanted Mark Coughlan + Pick #8.

Dare I say, I think the Tigers would do that deal now.

But then again, Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Last time Fevola was coming out of contract.
Carlton has 2 choices here:
With Fevola being contracted he has the final say where he wants to go.A great situation for Fev,s club of choice;).
or
Carlton keeps him.

Yep im glad we kept pick 8 and cogs:p:D

carlton have 24 ruckmen kpp on their list where do they develop their players.most clubs have more tall players than us they manage to bring talls thru why not us.
although interstate clubs have sanfl wafl clubs to spread their players around in this they probably have an advantage.

most clubs on any given day play 2 kpp chf ff and a third tall that third tall should be a young development player ie hughes riewoldt.atm its sculz who isnt up to it. this would leave 3 spots at coburg for tall forwads. who would develop at the lower level and be forced to earn a spot in the seniors thru solid performance in the 2s.that would be 6 kpf at various stages of development the same for backs and 4 ruckmen thats 16 talls imo the ideal number that should be on a list.
no one would be complaining if we had 3 competent kpf playing seniors atm. everyone would be saying let riewoldt and hughes develop at the lower level and earn their spot thru solid performance.

our senior set up should be richo ff someone to play chf and a third tall option schulz atm. our trouble is only richo is good enough hence the push to get hughes and jack into the team when they should be 2 of the 3 blokes developing at coburg.
