Fevola

No surprise we have no interest in Fevola.

I'd rather play Newton at FF then have that turkey kicking 80 odd goals and disgracing our club's name...

Whoever takes him is going to be putting their club culture and squad harmony seriously at risk. Dead set spud...
For a player of his talent, his market value is zilch. The lower clubs won't want him because he's too old and a bad influence. The clubs that are challenging either have more than capable key forwards, or no salary cap room.

Short odds that he ends up playing for Carlton next season.

totally agree:thumbsu:

I find the Hawthorn and Saints links bizarre tbh.

Franklin/Roughead/Fevola & Riewoldt/Koschitzke/Fevola wouldn't work...

Hawks need a key defender who's also a playmaker, and I really don't think moving Roughead into defence is the right way to go, he's too valuable to them in the forward line. They don't need Fev.

Saints need a mobile mid-sized forward who can take a grab and maybe push up into the midfield and have an influence (i.e. Robert Murphy type). They don't need another KPF...

The only way the Fev trade can happen (IMO) is if Sydney or more likely Collingwood want him.

I see Collingwood as the most likely. Melbourne based so least impost on Fev, They need a forward to win a Flag and with Rocca of the books and Carlton chipping in they can fit him in. I think Cloke and P14 (what ever there first is) would do it.

If Carlton want him out, i dont see why any club (except maybe Sydney) would bother trading, theyd just take him in the PSD.

AFL website:
Blues yet to finalise McLean deal!!!!

"I'll speak to Melbourne and see whether there might be something else that they might want to give back our way"

PFFFT!!! Since Fevs gone, sounds like Carlton are now questioning what they have done.

Judd couldn't work with him anymore. Think he had a sook to the board. Judd is Carlton, so he likes to think.

Another Carlton captain that thinks hes bigger then the club he plays for, on a ridicolously overpriced contract. Koutafides the second. And worse then that he doesnt understand Powerpoint

Typical scum act from a scum club :p, Screw em, Brock was worth more then pick 11 anyway, if they wanna go back on their handshake agreement **** em. :thumbsu:

I think Collingwood are dead set keen, cause Buckley refused to answer questions from the media about him. He kept saying "i'm here to talk about the draft camp", which basically means Collingwood are seriously mulling over whether they'll make a play for him. Otherwise, Buckley would've just said 'no' like most of the other clubs did outright.

As far as i'm concerned, Collingwood are the only club that has a good reason for wanting him. They desperately need a key forward, and they're in a flag window (as precarious as that seems tbh...)

Yeah, I read that. It's just that scumbag Steven Icke foxing methinks.

In one breath, he says McLean 'is the type of player worthy of a 1st round pick', then almost immediately he says 'we'll see if Melbourne want to throw in something else to sweeten the deal'.

As far as i'm concerned they can get stuffed.

Either honour your handshake agreement, or prepare to get smashed in the contested possession department yet again next season Carlton...

We might still be able to enter an Australian 'downhill skiing' team for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Canada...

YES.

Getting Fevola to Melbourne will provide a massive boost to our membership.

All those thousands of disgruntled Carlton members tearing up their memberships will obviously come flocking to Melbourne in '10.

He'll be worth every cent.

If we drafted Fev I'd be tempted not to buy a membership, he'd be a complete waste.

Anyway it's not going to happen.

Has 2 years of contract to run at the blues so can't happen.

I know your premiership window won't be open for a few years, but would a marquee (how do you spell that) player/joy to watch player like fev & all the draft picks & jurrah raise the membership sales & interest in dees thru the roof? he would easily fit into your salary cap atm (especially if blues are paying some of this), he has been worth the admission alone to watch imo! you guys definately need that kind of a boost, although he is a total knob! i'll be very sorry if he leaves the blues!

When will people realise that two shit players does not equal one very good player?

That's exactly right - why trade even 3 or 4 fringe players for one very good player if those 3 or 4 remain reserve / fringe players. You've given up a very good, permanent player for a number of players who won't make the team, it's like swapping 4 bags of shit for one bag of caviar, although there's more shit you're still not going to eat it.

As to Fev, I don't know why you'd take him - he's probably got 2 or 3 years of really good footy left in, then maybe 1 or 2 after that. No disrespect, but you guys are a long way off from playing finals and I doubt Fev will still be at his best by the time you are playing finals - you'd be better grooming a young forward who'll be developed and firing in a few years time

Fev's still under contract, the only way Fev could go in the PSD is if he and the club mutually agreed to part ways and Fev goes into the PSD.

And there's no way Fev would that - it means giving up his $1.2m over the next 2 years (unless Carlton agreed to pay him out, and get NOTHING in return), and placing himself in the PSD with a much lower figure on his head that clubs are willing to pay

It's like with the Trade, because he's still contracted the only way the trade will go ahead is if Fev & Carlton agree, and the club that wants him.

So if yas cant work a trade hes stuck there?, im guessing thats what will eventuate, Carlton are just making noises to appease those that think just cos they arent enjoying their lives that Fevola shouldnt either.

Marquis? :D i think in AFL context you hit the nail into the wood.

I enjoy watching him play, he he shows real emotion and i love that but he would probably just get in the way of Jurrah & Watts developing into the kind of forwards that we are hoping will demonate the competition for the next 10 years :thumbsu:

This sounds more like sour grapes about Judd not going to Melbourne than anything else

That "ridiculously overpriced contract" you refer to was something you guys were very willing to pay, hence your reference to the power point presentation.

As to Judd's involvement in the Fev scenario, Fev has been on the block well before Judd got there, hence the number of times Fev's been up for trade before. No doubt Judd had a big input into the decision, but to say that Fev would not have been put up for trade unless Judd was there doesn't make any sense

At the time i was pretty dirty on him, i know if it was me i woulda jumped at the chance to play for the club i grew up barracking for and he wouldve got rich doing it at the same time. But lets be honest we wouldnt have Cale Morton and that kids gunna be a star, so im over that.

And his 2hr a week $300,000 a year job at VISY? no i dont think we were willing to pay him what Dick Pratt offered. Though no doubt part of every Melbourne supporters money (along with every other Australian) contributes to Judds paycheque anyway. :thumbsu:

I agree completely, and my post wasnt really serious - cept the Koutafides part

Yeah... in the longer term, having Cale instead of Judd is a net sum gain for us IMO.
