Re: Fev

The guy has worked so hard to get where he is now, his fixed his off field troubles? Do you think he is willing to stuff that up?! His working on things with his wife and kids, credit where credit is due, i mean when tazza left all u guys got on his back about how much of an idiot he was? Now that his back half of the guys here have suddenly jumped back on the band wagon?! Fev would be easily in our top 10. Pure and simple, a great footballer who looks like he has begun to mature.

Not doubting his playing ability, just don't want a self confessed alcoholic, gambling addict and depressed character anywhere near our kids, 99.9% sure the club doesn't either.

so the season tarrant left and everyone here was saying he doesnt deserve another chance, has turned himself around?
Krakeour, went to JAIL and has turned himself around
Dids same
Shaw same
Sharrod same

If any team can get the best out of players its our club. Your just barring yourself mate. Just saying.

Re: Fev

Fev, is a great footballer; however, I am not sure he really has the intelligence to be a true team player the way Collingwood has set it up. We are partly very successful because no one is a "star"; I am not sure Fev has that humility.
While I wish him the best and do hope he returns to AFL, I trully hope it is not Collingwood that offers that lifeline (unless it was in our VFL only).
Re: Taz....I think he has more intelligence in his little finger than Fev has used in his entire life....just saying; there is a difference in being an arrogant kid making mistakes and an arrogant moron never stopping making mistakes.

Re: Fev

no shit sherlock?
Has he been working on his behaviour, has he not gone to arizona which he funded himself to make sure he gets back on the field mate. Really??? You are aware of that yeah right ?

Dude, Krak made 'A' mistake, and most know if he had been a white boy he never wouldve spent a day in prison, trouble follows Fev where ever he goes, and if it doesn't follow him he goes looking for it, he has been sacked by 2 clubs within 13 months, brisbane too thought he had turned the corner, surely he'll pull his head in now this being his last chance and all they said, yet here we are 'again', if we didn't go for him last time there isn't a snowflakes chance in hell we'll go for him this time.

I am a huge Shaw fan, I would never want the club to disown him. But, unlike Fev, he has black and white veins. He has messed up while always being in our club. He has known reasons for messing up and a heck of a lot of people trying to look out for him. (and really, paying his way to Arizona is that big a deal is it??...did he pay for Rocca to go too?)

Fev is an arrogant, not very bright man with known addictions....it would be a huge gamble to take him into a club that is priding itself on complete teamwork!

Re: Fev

This is the second time shaw stuffed up, are we giving up on him also or?

Yeah agree with the above poster Johny, Heater and Dids are bad boys, but their our bad boys, and they aren't anywhere near as bad as Fev.

ur suggesting american style sheriff racism in australia?... woa. I've been to many courtrooms as part of my study and kind of ridiculous to suggest our judical system is still racist!! How is a year in jail for assault unreasonable? Its actually on the lower side of sentences, or in the middle (if heard summarily).

If u read up ull realize every club who are speculated to be interested in him have said NO.

and he seriously is not in our best 22 hasnt been senior football in so long and NOWHERE near afl match fitness

.. oh and imagine a hawks outfit with buddy and ROUGHHEAD in their forward line . Add in the fact roughheads got way more years of football, oh and wont destroy the club... yea id prob go for roughhead

:o

No one has said no yet, and even if they said it publicly we all know that can change in an instant.

I think you have forgotten how good Fevola actually was, and more then likely still is! On ability alone (assuming he could get back to his form/fitness before he was cut from the lions) he would be in any teams best 22, a better forward then Roughead. Tell me you wouldn't be scared of facing a hawks side with Buddy, Fev and Roughead playing the Leigh Brown role! That would be the best forward line in the league.

I'm all for giving a bloke a second chance, however I don't really think he fits the build of what we need. Cloke and Dawes have a decade of good football ahead of them and should Dawes move elsewhere (which I think is highly unlikely) I'd rather play Lachlan Keefe than bring in Fev for a year or two.

Oh please, you would rather go into a finals series with an average backman who has shown nothing up forward over the best forward from the last 10 years who has shown he can still play at his best?

In WA?

do what Krak did in Vic and you'll get probation, do what Krak did in WA or the NT (especially if you're wrong colour) and you will go away, that's a fact mate, look up the stats if you like.

Hey guys, i was surprised i didn't see a thread about fev seeing has he has been killing it in the VFL of late kicking 33 goals in only 5 games which is almost 7 goals per game! It's been said we are interested in landing a big fish, could it be him? I mean dawes hasnt signed yet and yes i know he has said he plans to sign but i wouldn't be suprised if we do make a pitch for him, Eddie did try to bring him to the pies on the last day of the trade week when he left blues...

Thoughts?

If you forget Fev for a few seconds and think about what it is you know of Mick Malthouse and then assume that Buck's, who in his early days had to make a conscious effort to lower expectations of others around him as far as total commitment to preparation, has picked up even 10% of the ideology which Mick has a carried through his entire career as a coach...then you would realise that no matter how many goals Fev kicks in the VFL he will never be a Collingwood player.

Re: Fev

Pretty much all that needs to be said.

+ Fevola isn't best 22 relevant.

Dawes is better.

St Kilda can take a chance on him. Maybe he is what they need.

But not an appropriate fit for Collingwood.

Dawes is better? As a bloke you're probably right, but as a footballer he's not even close. Dawes is a serviceable tall forward, who has never come close to dominating a game. Fev is a star, whose been a match winner on many occasions. There are so many reasons to not recruit Fev, but I'd love to see him in the black and white.

I dont think it's a great idea, but hey, Edd and boys have taken us this far, if they decide they want him so be it, after he kicks his first goal he will be one of us, but as i said earlier, if i were in charge i wouldn't even consider it, it would piss the scum off no end though i suppose, could be some upside lol.

Re: Fev

Would rather Dawes now any day over Fev,
Dawes is still young and will get better, while Fev is well past his prime and will only decline. I seriously doubt anyone will pick up Fev let alone us replacing a young key forward with an aging trouble maker.

Personally, if Dawes was too leave i would pick up Fev in the pre season for practically nothing.

We could dictate the terms, the money would be very low but i think all he wants is to go out on his terms.

Clearly when fit he is a freak.

Doggies rolled the dice with Hall and it didn't turn out so bad.

Dawes stays, then its a big no from me.

But, you gotta admire the way he is going about his life at the moment.

Some people are clearly troubled and he seems to be workin his ass off to improve himself.

Re: Fev

I will admit I have not read the OP at all (aside from the thread title).
But my response is a simple 'no'.

Absolutely! I however did read the OP but had already prepared a response before looking at the first word.

1. We were not interested even when Cloke was struggling and it was obvious Big Ant was done.

2. We were not interested after his Brownlow antics, let alone the antics that led to Brisbane giving him the boot.

3. If GWS aren't even interested, then he has no hope.

Re: Fev

I'm not in favour of having him, but would it change anyone's stance at all if the following conditions were in place:

1) He played for minimum wage
2) He had a 1 year contract
3) He had the strictest set of behavioural clauses in this contract
3a) No alcohol
3b) No gambling
3c) No late nights
4) Fitness requirements - skin folds, 3km time trials have to be at particular levels before he gets paid, and would be a justification for his sacking
5) That he realises he would be purely for backup to Dawes, and would be just an insurance policy and that he'd be a good chance just to play VFL
6) Give him a role in the club he could be proud of, for example, lecturing the younger kids (with supervision from the powers that be) on what not to do, how you have to make the most of your gifts and opportunities - who knows, some responsibility might be the sort of thing that gets him into the right mindset to compete and get things right in his own mind.

It's still a no from me.

The PA wouldn't allow a contract like that.
