more importantly it teaches the whole team a lesson (you dont want pfeiffer to go back to his old ways???)
suspend him for a week. hartlett + edwards will own richmonds defence.
Give us a spell.

Its a tough call. while i obviously want fev on the field it must be asked want are the longer term consequences if he is just given a mickey mouse penalty? are there separate rules for our stars and the other players? and are the rules diffrent depending on the importance of the game?

really this is not the first such incident for Fev. I hav always been an advocate for him staying at Carlton but he really is a meat head. I say suspend him for one game. Ultimately it is just one game in the grand scheme of things and think of the message it would send to the younger players. also the club would hav a reputation of not shirking difficult issues.

If Fev hasn't learnt be now he never will, fine him and let him play. What will help the young blokes more, seeing Fev suspended or winning?

OMG I was spewing for a sec!!

ODN save others the agony and change the thread title.
Am I the only one that thinks our club are morons if they suspend Fev? Personally I'm sick of losing, and I don't want us to go the same track of the last few years. If we suspend Fev, we'll be 0-2 for the start of the season. And you know what? Fev won't learn a f***ing thing!

Winning has to be everything this year, otherwise maybe I should just put the blindfold back on!

FEV will play and FEV is due against the tigers so I'f was a Richmond (loser) I would be a little worrieD that he might just do what he did against the bombers in rd3 last year.......Turn it on and bury the yellow and crap

Given 100% of non-Carlton supporters and the anti-Carlton media set are frantically crying out for Fev to be suspended, the logical decision is not to suspend him. Instead fine and warn him that next time he'll be suspended. That will send a good message to Fev, and get the anti-Carlton supporters real upset. A good outcome. :)

That should have happened in Ireland.

Yep. Good post. Whilst one needs to be careful of the way we equate historical events with the current, we all stood here and smugly blamed the WCE for their seeming ambivalence while they stood and watched their own club implode. This has nothing to do with Fev's unquestionable ability but has everything to do with the culture we want to build and the success we want to have. Clubs who have players behaving like Fev does do not win premierships in today’s football unless serious measure are taken.

Carlton needs to embrace some serious measures and if Fev wants to be a part of the success that we all think is coming, he needs to embrace some serious measure too

lol. Speaking of which. Hey, I bet you're tuned into SEN, desperately hoping Fev's going to get suspended aren't you. How sad. Fev has had a long standing problem with alcohol. THAT is the issue. All his off field behavioural issues have been alcohol related. Last year during the season there were no incidents in fact, and one on-field run-in with the coach, but now we know several players had disagreements with Denis's gameplan and approach anyway. Yes Fev stuffed up, and yes he needs to address his alcohol problem, but the media is grossly beating up the frequency of these incidents, to satisfy bitter anti-Carlton supporters like yourself. :)

Come on Parrot - I love yout posts but seriously you took the WCE to task about their inactivity to address a broken culture yet you want to create one at Carlton?

If fev plays he will kick 6 or more...why? because he will be centre of attention, which is what he loves. He must feel like the second naughtiest kid in class now judd has arrived.

If we suspend him, he'll miss out on the lime light and sulk, feel victimised etc. and probably play poorly for the next couple of weeks....

I would get him to apologise publically (and give him some more attention) and then let him kick goals on Thursday with something to prove. That will get him on a roll for the rest of season.

As for the wider issue of reforming him....wont happen...he's a five year old in a man's body, but a likeable one...unless they can figure out some way to give him an electric shock everytime he's naughty.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Fev has had only ONE during-the-season off-field alcohol related incident over the past 2 years. It's still not acceptable, but the media are making out that it's happening every 2nd week for the past 2 years. He needs to be punished, but at the same time we need to ignore the anti-Carlton media hysteria, and make a decision based on the facts. And also address the cause i.e Fevs alcohol problem. :)

Don't want Fev suspended for this incident simply because it gives Carlton fans an easy out if they lose on Thursday, as well as, if Richmond were to lose to the Blues without Fev I think the Richmond board would go into meltdown. ;)

For mine, I would hit him with the maximum fine possible, place a ban on alcohol for the season and put a 2-3 week suspended sentence over his head for the rest of the season. If the Blues are serious about turning the clubs fortunes they need to make a stand now regardless of whether it affects the clubs chances for a win in the opening round or not.

BTW I would be saying the same thing whether Richmond were playing Carlton or not.

Well said. :)

SEN says they heard he got fined awaiting confirmation, to be expected, fine only setting a precedent for the future

What precedent would that be?? That we won't bow to media pressure and impose a penalty that fails to address the underlying issues??

SEN saying Fev is playing. Unsure of details.:thumbsu:

I have to ask if there is a single Carlton supporter out there that believes that if this had happened after round 18 last year, that they would not have taken the higher ground and suspended him for the rest of the year because it didnt mean squat.
This time round they have a reason to win so there is no way that would make the hard call and stand up to be counted by suspending him for even 1 week

It is all in the timing.

You can't possibly be trying to draw a comparison between recreational drug use and having a few too many drinks and acting like an idiot???

What next? Random out of competition breath testing for players?

Agree. Some of the drugs the Weagles players were using were pretty hardcore. Plus they were caught on Fed Police tape making deals with drug dealers. And remember the Didak incident. He was in car during a police shootout, with someone charged with murder!! Fev peeing on a window when drunk, while silly, is not even remotely severe as these other incidents. And guess how many weeks suspension Didak and Kerr got. Z.E.R.O. :)
