Yep, heard the same thing and they said on the news Fewster would be a back up player in case of injury to one of the big men.
Brendan Fewster promised much but his career has been interrupted by injury.
Considering its a weak draft, and freo are going with a reduced squad, re-drafting a mature player for backup at pick #80-something isn't that bad an idea. He'd probably only cost you minimum wage (probably like $50k).
Pavlich
J. Lo
Croad
Simmonds
McPharlin
S hi thouse
Hadrill
Grover
Jones
Now thats not a bad list of key position big men. Cant see why you redraft a hack like Fewster.
What i cant understand about Freo is why they pigion hole Croad as a full forward. Personally i would think this bloke would be more damaging on a wing where he is strong enough to take marks in the middle of the ground, quick enough to run with the ball through the middle or out of the backline, smart enough to set up play, and has great closing speed to make tackles. Croad is wasted at full forward, let him kick goals from the wing and leave J. Lo, Farmer and Medders as the specialist forwards.
Croad on a wing, with Des on the other, Pavlich at CHF where he belongs kicking goals from outside 50m and roaming all over the field like Carey used to do, and all of a sudden you have a much more attacking and imposing freo line up.
I don't know if he could play on the wing. He would do alright at CHB though I reckon. I'd rather see that and let Pav play more forward/ in the middle.
Shippy is doing pre-season at West Coast. Most wce fans are against picking him up it seems but i'd like him
Fewster...pass, don't want him back nor should freo
