I know it's early days .. but does the great Grimlock have any idea if a pre-season version of FFGenie will be available soon to help with selecting 2014 teams. Also what games it will cover particularly VS DT or AFL Fantasy or both?

Damn was thinking the new AFL version might not work nicely with your program. Heres hoping its an easy fix.

Also mods - if anyone deserves a medal on this site its grimlock. Can we get him something shiney for his awesome work with FFGenie?

are you rolling it out pre round 1 Grim?
I'm trying to but VS has changed a lot of things that have made it harder to suck out data with a program (whether by chance or by design I'm not sure). So I may have to build the list of players and prices + positions manually, but hopefully out early next week.

Hey guys I'm currently uploading the offline version to https://sourceforge.net/projects/ffgenie/

I will upload the online version to http://www.ffgenie.com tonight. In the meantime, if you don't already have it you should download and install Java 7 because that's the version required. I read there's some issue with JAR signing (i.e. tech issues) which may make it a lot harder to deploy but we'll have to wait and see

What's on there so far is the starting prices and players for Real Dream Team and Super Coach. I plan to add support for Sportal AFL Fantasy and Sportsbet AFL Fantasy soon. Nothing else works, don't try and load user teams or anything like that.

I am currently not supporting the AFL's 'official' Dream Team because we are all unaware of their price change formula. The only hint we've gotten is that they've said it will start moving after Round 2, not after Round 3 like we've been used to.

I've uploaded to http://ffgenie.com
I've written instructions on how to overcome the security dialog on the front page.
If someone could test it out, that would be excellent. Cheers
I had a bit of trouble ont he first part of the instructions... but that was more operator error.

Once I worked out what I was doing, the instructions worked and FFGenie is working.

In the end, I searched for java through the Start menu. From there I went to Configure Java then followed your instructions.

all good, followed the instructions and have it up and running.

Hi Grimlock.

Love your program, long time user over the last few years.
Although im having trouble updating rd1 data.
Trying a datascrape from VS website renders this error.

java.util.NoSuchElementException: null
java.util.Scanner.throwFor(Unknown Source)
java.util.Scanner.next(Unknown Source)
ffg.game.vs.VSGameManager.updateLast(VSGameManager.java:1126)
ffg.gui.VSPanel$16.run(VSPanel.java:271)
java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(Unknown Source)
java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(Unknown Source)
java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

or import stats from website give this error

java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://ffgenie.com/stat/2014/SC/round.txt

Is it a problem on my end or is the program not updating correctly.
Cheers

Having said that, been working on it today.

I'm currently uploading 2014.2 to https://sourceforge.net/projects/ffgenie/
Will upload the WebStart version to http://ffgenie.com later tonight

2014.2 only adds Update Last functionality.
Due to the change made by VS, you need to login to access all parts of their site, so you'll have to do that too when doing an Update Last. Your password is not stored anywhere by FFGenie. But it's sent in cleartext (as it is when you login to their site) and so could be easily intercepted. If you're not comfortable with this I suggest you either, just Import from website (but that depends on when I upload the data file to my site) or create a dummy account just for doing updates.

No Update All, no auto updating your User Teams - currently working on that.

Thanks Grimlock,
With official AFLFantasy, any chance of getting a release of players, values and scores anyway. That is don't worry about your price predictions, BEs etc. I don't think their formulas and rules will become clear for a while. So having a full record of prices and scores every round will be important. Supposedly their prices will start to change after this round.

To be really honest it's going to be a lot of work and I'm not that motivated enough to do it. I think tooserious might be keeping track.
Grimlock,

I'm unable to load any teams into FFGenie.
When using Team ID, I get "Could Not find the Round number in html"
When using login form I get "Couldn't find the login form"

Doesn't worki for DT or SC (haven't tried SB).

Any ideas?
