Early thoughts are , I thought Australia were pretty average at the olympics last year. They had a 1-3 record. The teams they lost to though are on the other side of the pool. (USA, Belgium and China)

Im not sold on this Australian team even making it past the pool stages here.

any leans on these lines??

Don’t watch a lot of WNBA but that -22.5 line looks a bit high to cover. Probably need to watch a few first round games to get a good impression.

But surprised aussies are ranked number 3 in the world in women’s basketball. Not sure if they still have the same coach as last season but he seemed not that great tactically .

Will probably get to quarters but 4th spot is not that lucrative as you will be facing the Americans.

Sure, LJ dominated the NBL1 comp last season, but let's not pretend she's the LJ from 15 years ago – she's 41 now.
Aussies have an OK squad – not our strongest, but a few really good players in there including Ezi who has developed quite a bit since her last international tournament.

This is the Aussie Opals squad:

Australian Opals 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Team

Bec Allen

Sara Blicavs

Darcee Garbin

Cayla George

Lauren Jackson

Ezi Magbegor

Tess Madgen

Anneli Maley

Steph Talbot

Marianna Tolo

Day 2 Matches and Lines. Odds courtesy of Sportsbet ($1.83 lines)

Puerto Rico +35.5 pts v -35.5 pts USA
Serbia +8.5 pts v -8.5 pts Japan
Belgium -32.5 pts v +32.5 pts South Korea
China -30.5 pts v +30.5 pts B & H
France -3.5 pts v +3.5 pts Canada
Mali +28.5 pts v -28.5 pts Australia

I think the Puerto Rico +35.5 pts looks a tad big and Mali +28.5

All the pressure is on Australia to win and win well . Anything less than a smashing and questions will still linger.

My reason for tipping the Serbs to win today, despite Aussies having home court. Serbia beat Australia 73-71 at the 2016 Olympics. (Serbia lead the H2H 1-0)

Japan v Canada should be close with teams splitting the H2H over the last 3 years, 1-1. Japan beat them earlier this year.

I am feeling cool about both bets now after reading a bit of the unlimited information available online.

4th games today

$1.83 lines from Sportsbet
Belgium -22.5 pts v B & H +22.5 pts
Serbia -26.5 pts v Mali +26.5 pts
France -3.5 pts v Japan +3.5 pts
South Korea +50.5 pts v USA -50.5 pts
China -31.5 pts v Puerto Rico +31.5 pts
Canada +3.5 pts v Australia -3.5 pts

ill do a multi Mali +26.5 pts, France -3.5 pts, Canada +3.5 pts @ 7.16 Boosted

Dont think Mali were that bad yesterday in their 3rd game, Australia dont look that good despite their win over Serbia who I reckon are a poor side and Canada look like possibly the 2nd/3rd best team at this tournament.

one of Serbian players injured with under 30 seconds on the clock- dont why they want to risk injury so much given how important a game there is tomorrow. Could do to take a lesson from the AFL and how teams went about it in the prelim finals.

Japan Squad for 2022 FIBA Womens World Cup: Mawuli, Masuma, Takada, Tokashiki, Yoshida, Yamamoto, Hirashita, Miyazaki, Miyazawa, Todo, Akaho, Okoye

Japan Squad for 2021 Tokyo Olympics: Akaho, Todo, Takada, Hayashi, Machida, Mawuli, Miyazaki, Miyazawa, Miyoshi, Motohashi, Nagaoka, Okoye

The thing for me is, only 7 of those players are backing up after winning silver at their home Olympics last season. One of those players was balling with her assists. They have really liked a poor team this tournament and I sense they will be the team that misses out the qualifying stages.
