Brendon Bolton announced a shock resignation from Carlton, citing a move to North Melbourne as the reason behind his departure. North reportedly offered Bolton $20 million over 14 years, which was an offer hard to refuse. His replacement was quickly named as Gold Coast Suns' assistant Peter Williams who was relatively fresh to the elite level, having joined Gold Coast just a year earlier. He impressed many with his work ethic and somehow raced straight to the top of the Blues' hit list. The Victorian welcomed a return home, and despite joining the Blues after barracking for arch rival Collingwood as a kid, Williams was excited for the future at Carlton.
With the likes of Jacob Weitering, Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay and Jack Silvagni coming out of contract, the new Blues coach will have plenty of work to do this pre-season after the Blues finished 16th on the table, ahead of only North Melbourne. His first press conference will be up soon.
