Until now, I would've thought the phrase "said no one" would've applied there.

Sorry to divert from the topic thread - what do you enjoy about his fights these days? The way I see it, he's shelved his heavy hitting standup days in favour of optimising his chances for victory by way of takedowns and ground control.
agreed.. the robbie fight were entertaining because of Robbies style.

Really? I love me some Robbie, but Hendricks was lighting him up in the second and third rounds of the last fight. When he's going like that, he's great fun to watch.
yeh that's true.. ill watch Hendricks fight any day. I think him gasing in the 4th and 5th affect the way I view that fight. only watched it the once tho

well he is a wrestler by nature i have watched him walk through the divison every time someone doubted him he pulled through, last fight I felt he played it safe but I think he was recovering from injury and was not in as great shape as he had been. I think he still won that fight.

The 1st Hendricks/Lawler fight was the best of the year or close to it, and the 2nd was good too. Seeing him get a title shot fairly soon would be fine by me.

Hendricks hasn't shelved anything. If he doesn't knock you out early he'll use his wrestling, which is smart and makes sense. He's always fought like this, nothing in terms of how he fights has changed since he entered the UFC. What has changed is that he's a far better striker than he was a few years ago.

I guess it just really pissed me off the way he fought Matt Brown and Carlos Condit. The fans expected a lot more from these performances and I don't think they lived up to the hype - for which I'd place the blame on Hendricks.
He landed some monstrous punches on Condit's chin. The takedowns he got are Condit's fault. Can't blame Hendricks because Condit's TDD is really lacking. Brown was doing really well in the clinch against Hendricks, so Hendricks realised I'd be better off taking him down instead of getting my face busted up.

Velasquez vs Werdum 2 is happening next. I don't like it. I'd rather see Cain beat someone first, even if it's an 'easy' fight for him. Most fights would have Cain as a big favourite and having him get a win first would be good. Werdum could have a fresh matchup next or at worst a rematch from years ago. But no, immediate rematch it is.

If this fight happens, Velasquez will have fought only 3 different opponents in his last 7 bouts. JDS, Bigfoot and Werdum are those 3. Last time he fought someone who isn't one of those 3 was in 2010 when he fought Lesnar. Fresh matchups please.

Dont mind the idea of cain getting a rematch, if werdum beats him again though he has to be in discussion of the best HW ever

What's to like about Cain getting a rematch? Just holds up the division when it was actually looking more interesting than it has in a long time.

We're so fixated on titles in MMA. Take out the title and how silly does this rematch look? If a non-title fight played out like this one did, there's no way they make a rematch straight away.

I get both side of the argument, and I agree with both. What's to like? Seeing Cain compete with the altitude factor removed, injuries? that factor will never be able to be removed. But i'm ok with seeing this again - not that I necessarily agree with it.. At least moreso than I am of seeing Hendricks v Lawler again.

I think they really should have capitalised on ronda and McGregor in Dallas.. the timing was perfect, and both fighters couldn't be hotter.
A stadium show? They've talked about having a show at Cowboys stadium for years now and it never happens. Seems like it's just touted as a tool to get more out of the Vegas casinos. They've had one event in front of more than 30,000 people and yet they're always talking about stadium shows. All the added effort involved with setting up a stadium show probably isn't worth it when they can get heaps of money fighting at casinos.

They went over this last week the stadium show is an idea but not with these two right now, they need them to headline a card each plus there is not as much money is Dallas as vegas I dont know how it works but they would not sell it out apparently and tickets would have to be cheap as for them to do it. I dont know its hard for us here to understand cause we dont get events here where your paying $400 for the worst seats in the house. They will do the stadium eventually you'll find it will be staked but not neccacarly have Rhonda or Connor the two biggest stars the sport had

I get that it might not make the most sense in terms of profit, but in terms of growing the sport and getting as many eyes possible on an event to me the time was right.

when you think about it, they can almost get the same amount of people into that stadium that buy a Mighty Mouse PPV in the U.S.
IMO it would be an event that transcends the sport in a way mayweathet v pacman did.. but it would almost certainly deliver with some fan friendly fights under the titles.

opportunity missed

Cain v Werdum is stupid. Heavyweight has been so stagnant for so long now (Cain and JDS have monoploised the division and injury) you finally have a chance to get some new blood in the mix (Miocic, Arlovski etc) and they go for a rematch... Jesus.

Have Cain beat someone, anyone, then give him his title shot again, in the meantime have Werdum fight the winner of Miocic v Arlovski.
