1951 film The Company She Keeps.

He was six months old. His brother Beau and mother Dorothy also had small roles.

IIRC in the early 1970s Christina Applegate, then an infant less than 6 months old, had an appearance on a soap opera, obviously playing a baby.

English actor David Warner was in two highly memorable death scenes in very famous movies.

In the 1976 horror movie 'The Omen' his character is decapitated by supernatural forces after knowing too much about the Antichrist. In Titanic in 1997 his character is definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time - right where the ship breaks apart between the third and fourth funnels, and falls into the abyss.

The Wizard of Oz from 1939 is a classic film loved by many people worldwide, but star Judy Garland who played Dorothy apparently hated working on the film for quite a few different reasons. However, Garland when recalling the experience years later did say that there was one bright light; a person on set who was really nice to her, recognizing the problems the young girl was having working on the movie and trying to help her through them.

Who was the one person who cared about and was really nice to the girl who played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz? Somewhat ironically actress Margaret Hamilton, who played the Wicked Witch of the West (as well as her briefly seen sister the Wicked Witch of the East) and her real world counterpart the unpleasant Mrs. Glutch.

And in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, he played the Supreme Klingon Chancellor, who was assassinated in a zero gravity environment.

Just googled it. Apparently he had his teeth chipped voluntarily for the role, as he felt Tyler Durden wouldn't have perfect teeth. Now that's dedication to your craft!

Despite the fighting, Durden was a pretty boy. Gelled hair, colourful fashion, athletic figure.

Ed Norton more likely to have a chipped tooth.

American actress Kaley Cuoco is well known for playing Penny in the sitcom 'The Big Bang Theory', but has a large resume of roles dating back many years, with Kaley acting since childhood.

One of her roles in her earlier years was in a 1998 film called 'Mr. Murder' when she was aged 12/13, playing the daughter of the main characters. In this film pre-dating TBBT by close to a decade her character had a pet snake. And the name of the pet snake? He was called Sheldon.

Fans of Kaley might like this.

The 2020 film 'Bill and Ted Face The Music' had pretty good continuity from its predecessors considering 29 years had passed since 'Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey' in 1991 and 31 years since the first film 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' came out in 1989.

However, apart from Bill mentioning Missy being married to his father at one stage at the very start of the film, Bill's Dad is not seen nor even referenced unlike other characters from the two previous films. Not once do Bill, Thea or any other character reference what became of him, or even if he was still alive. The actor who played him - J Patrick McNamara - is still living.

When the casting for 'The Omen' was underway in 1976, the lead role of Ambassador Robert Thorn was offered to William Holden. However Holden had reservations about starring in a film about the Devil, so turned down the role, which went to Gregory Peck.

William Holden later regretted the decision to refuse the role, but not for too long as he auditioned for and won the role of Richard Thorn, the brother of Robert Thorn and guardian of Damien, in 'Damien Omen 2' in 1978.

Gregory Peck playing Robert Thorn in The Omen was a huge surprise at the time. His son Jonathan committed suicide in 1975. Gregory was terribly shaken, understandably, and didn't work for nearly two years. The surprise was in his choice of role; a man who ultimately believes he has to kill his son. Richard Donner talks about it in the Extras on the DVD.

1988's Die Hard was a fantastic film. Among the many memorable characters were two FBI agents, both named Johnson played by Grand L. Bush (left) and Robert Davi (right). People kept getting them mixed up, despite the obvious differences.

Well the very next year they both appeared in the same film, Licence to Kill. Again law enforcement was a theme with Bush playing DEA agent Hawkins, and Davi as the excellent Bond villain Franz Sanchez.

I think the iguana adds to the man's menace.

In the iconic film 'Ghost' from 1990 three characters died prematurely. These were Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze), Willie Lopez (Rick Aviles) and Carl Brunner (Tony Goldwyn), and in real life two of these three actors also met premature ends. Rick Aviles died of a heart attack in 1995 at age 42, while Patrick Swayze also failed to see his 60th birthday, dying of cancer at age 57 in 2009.

Tony Goldwyn is still alive at age 61, but given what happened to his character in Ghost one gets the impression that his wife would be worried if his main passion in life was DIY home renovation, such as installing some nice new French windows himself rather than getting professionals to do it ...

Tony Goldwyn is the grandson of Samuel Goldwyn, the "G" of MGM.

There are quite a number of famous actors who are only children in real life, but which only child actors have played characters who were only children in movies and TV shows? This is only cases where it is distinctly referenced. For example, John Cleese has no brothers or sisters, but in Fawlty Towers it is never mentioned whether Basil had any siblings because it wasn't relevant to the show, so Basil wouldn't count. Here are some examples:

  • Daniel Radcliffe like his most famous character Harry Potter is an only child. Contrasts with Hermione Granger who is also an only child, but the actress who played her Emma Watson is from a large family.
  • Lea Michele has no brothers or sisters, like her Glee character Rachel Berry.
  • Leonardo Di Caprio is an only child, and in Titanic his character Jack Dawson mentions his parents are deceased and he had no brothers and sisters, probably to help explain why he was not missed when he 'vanished' in 1912. Rose is probably an only child too, but it is possible she did have unreferenced younger siblings and in any case Kate Winslett has siblings in real life.
  • Alyson Hannigan doesn't have any brothers and sisters, and her character Lily in How I Met Your Mother was the only one of the five core characters who was an only child. A younger Alyson Hannigan played only child Jessie in 'My Stepmother Is An Alien' in 1988.
  • All of the five kids who won golden tickets in all versions of 'Charlie & the Chocolate Factory' were only children, but in the 2005 film only child Violet was played by real life only child Anna-Sophia Robb. Robb's character Leslie in 2007's 'Bridge to Terabithia' is also an only child.
  • Only child Kathryn Newton played Julie in 'Blockers' in 2018, the only child to a single mother.
  • The late James Dean was an only child in real life, and his character Jim in 1955 film 'Rebel Without a Cause' likely was too. If he did have siblings, they did not live with he and his parents and were not seen or referenced in the film.
  • Another possible one is Back to the Future. Actor Crispin Glover is an only child in real life, and no siblings of George McFly were seen or referenced in any timeline, contrasting with the large family of Lorraine. However it is not distinctly referenced that George had no brothers or sisters.
  • An odd case is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy was an only child for four seasons as was the actress who played her Sarah-Michelle Gellar. Then in the fifth season Buffy woke up one day to find she suddenly had a younger sister Dawn, everyone else's memories having skewed to always remember Dawn having been there and Dawn herself knowing no different.

Canadian comedic actor Jim Carrey shot to superstardom in the early 1990s with a variety of roles, and has also acted in more dramatic roles. As a young unknown comedian-actor in the mid 1980s, Carrey auditioned for a voice role for a new character in a famous cartoon series but was unsuccessful in getting the part.

No doubt the young Carrey was disappointed at the time, but given the reception to the new character in the cartoon and his own later career success, he was probably relieved in hindsight to have missed out on the role.

So what was the cartoon Carrey auditioned unsuccessfully to be a part of? It was the original 'Inspector Gadget' cartoon and the role was Corporal Capeman, a sidekick character unsuccessfully added to the show midway through its 1983-1986 run and noted for a negative reception from fans.

So who got the part? Did he amount to anything?

A lot of interesting trivia about the film Licorice Pizza (2021) from Paul Thomas Anderson.

Always used to think PTA tries to be weird and quirky, but it's actually just that he saw/heard a lot of weird and quirky things in real life and brings them to cinema.

Apologies if this has been posted already (it didn't show up with a quick search) but my favourite Die Hard trivia is that the actor who played the Limo driver Argyle was 8 years earlier the kid who tried to steal a guitar off the wall of Ray Charles' music shop in The Blues Brothers. The actor De'voreaux White was only credited as 'Young Guitar Thief' in The Blues Brothers and so I choose to believe that Ray's warning shot scared a young Argyle away from a life of crime and that two of my all time favourite movies are actually linked in a Blues Brothers/Die Hard shared universe.
