I know it's not official, but it's not far off: Jacko and Aisake are absolute certainties to be elevated to the senior list.

IMO we should draft as many tall athletic types this year with our later picks people like Westhoff (a tall kpp) port got him around 70th pick and he has turned out great.

Dylan McLaren has announced he won't be playing with the Blues next year.

I take it he is leaving to softer pastures? Not a retirement as such?

Not sure, all i know is that he has come out and told the club he won't be playing on next year.

For the Blues to move forward, we have or need to get rid of the following:

*Teague
*Bannister
* Ackland
* Lappin
*McClaren
*Bentick: Tons of possies dont make a great player went each possie is crap!
* Whitnal: for a 24-27 year old midfielder??Thoughts
* Fevola:===Richardson=Lockett=Ablett=Modra=Rocca...Did any of these folks win a G/F..Trade him for pick 5 and Farran Ray..We will never get Cooney so get over it..Or maybe take Tom Williams?
*Betts? He aint no Brent HARVEY..Too small, not enough engine

And lets take a real look:
We get picks 1,3, 20 etc..We will certaintly bring ina Ruck a mid and a key defender...
So who could be 3 more that are on their last legs at the blues in the long term???
We have still tons of good young players that are sub 20 that will press on next season.

With 3 gone already (Mclaren, Kouta & Lappin) and you would assume 3 promotions (Aisake, Jamo & Jacko) you would also assume that there maybe up to 8 more to go which would give us 6 or 7 picks in the National Draft and 1 maybe 2 (unlikely) in the Preseason Draft.
Will certainly be an interesting month or two post season.

I've seen this logic applied before and as is usually the case I note your careful omission of Dunstall, Kernahan and Lloyd.

It's like asking why you'd go for a smart player who gets plenty of the ball, uses it well and has a booming kick. I mean after all, Buckley never won a GF

Nah, I reckon only 4-5 picks in the national draft for the Blues this year and one in the pre-season.

Jamison will probably spend another year on the rookie list. Aisake and Jackson will have to get promoted because they have both maxed out their time on the rookie list.

Also, don't be suprised if Jacobs gets cut if we recruit Kruezer.

he does deserve but i doubt whether he will get promoted due to Kouta and Lappin retiring, we will not have an official veteran.

which means we can have a nominated rookie who can still play all the games next season even if there is no injury list!

Couldn't disagree with you more on the bolded type.

Which other in and under player would you replace Bentick with. He has been a consistent performer this year and there would be a whole stack of players that would be looked at before AB. Should take a closer look at his work before judging. The other comparable player on the list would be Blackwell and he personally hasn't shown anymore than Bentick this year.

Which 24-27 year old do you think you'd get for Whitnall? IMO - would be happy with a draft pick in 30-40 range but would even dount we'd get this for him.

Fevola is irreplacable in current environment. If he wants to play for the club and has the endeavour to improve his attitude and work hard should not be traded. Gee there seems to be a lot of plaudits going out to Farren Ray and Tom Williams, most I think underserved. They are average players who IMO are nothing above average. I wouldn't trade Fevola but if we had to there would be no way I would take anything but a gun player and 1st round pick.

i have a feeling that Saddington will get the chop!

i thought after a few good games he has done enough, but i dont think next year he has much of a role.

considering we are looking at youth and building experience in the likes of Austin, Bower, Jamison and have Thornton, Waite and Setanta to go back i cannot see Saddo playing much. If anything he would be a depth player for injuries!!

i think we should cut our losses!

i remember reading a quote from greg swann saying aisake will be promoted at the end of the season from a rookie onto the senior list.

can't see a further 8 being delisted, 6 at the most IMO.

that leaves us with the followig picks in a "shallow" draft

That is about the way I see it. Taking into consideration that Acland is contracted and Cloke has potential.
