It was in Spicey's meat hook thread.

The synopsis was;
a) he has congenital heart block which puts his future in great doubt
b) the reported limit of 100 BPM specifically was bullshit and has been discredited by the player himself

Hard to argue with that...

Great idea for a thread. So glad because this is a topic that we havent covered so far.

To answe the question ad infinitum at leats from my pov, we have four picks . We need an experienced spare ruckman.

I'd prefer we used all four picks on new recruits and picked up a ruck in the rookie draft.

Or used our first three picks on new recruits, our fourth on a ruck (delisted FA, ND, who cares), and we have an extra pick in the rookie draft for another kid.

Cant see any use for any more rejects

Sorry i wasn't aware it was discussed somewhere :p
You need to get out and about more often. If you did, you wouldn't miss the medical and anatomy classes run by TRS and team. Even I sat up the back for a short time and took notes.

Perhaps you'd find the thread topic more interesting if you bothered to read it?

I don't care what you'd prefer us to do. What do you think we will do?

I think we will take four new recruits and a ruckman and no other rejects. I always think they will do what they think I should do because I expect the club to be as smart as I am.

Its irrelevant whether the ruckman is main listed or rookie listed.

Happy now?

You confuse me, Timothy. I do hope the club is a good deal smarter than that. ;)

Testify!

Master class shit that was.

You must remember who is who. Timmy likes to argue, that is his bag, still makes salient points.

Just like the Weagle infestation we had a few weeks ago.

A lot of people responding to w***ers (generic name for Weagle posters) here went along with civil conversation.

Bollocks they took you to the bank, got you to hand over the money & then ****ed in the arse. NO KY.

Absolutely an insipid response to people who were having a lend.

Hang on I'm having trouble standing on my soapbox.

This is exactly what i'm talking about.....I've heard 100BPM...... Now you say 120BPM.

I call bullshit......
I get my heart rate up to 140-150 sitting on a cross trainer for 5 minutes.
If Josh can't get his heart rate above 120BPM, then there is absolutely NO WAY, he would have been drafted in the first place.

His problem is he has a condition called congenital heart block. It's usually something seen in unborn babies or in infancy but can present in later life as it has with Toy. His heart rate would not have been significantly compromised when he was drafted.

However it is inevitable his heart rate will be eventually restricted to less than 100 bpm. The wiring of his heart is damaged and will get worse. The conduction of beats from his atrium (upper heart chamber) to his ventricle (lower heart chamber) is being disrupted and eventually his heart rate will be dictated by the ventricles rate alone which at rest runs at about half the atrial rate. For the same reason even when exerting himself the heart will not be able to get its rate up to above 100. When this happens he will need a pacemaker to pace his heart at a reasonable rate and AFL footy will be out

What we don't know is how far the problem has progressed and how quickly it is likely to progress from here. it is those questions that the Docs at each club will be trying to answer to know if it's reasonable to recruit Toy.

Is there a particular reason why he can't play with a pacemaker making his heart beat faster?

The only option is that we have a target in the PSD which we are keeping close to our chest. If it doesn't play out for us, I'm all for promoting Mooney.

Why would that be our only option? Ostensibly we have four, as in the poll options.

Probably only if we feel we have no competition at our final selection, ie. a Leigh Brown or Simon Buckley type in terms of market value...

currie, seaby or orren, we need one of those whichever way possible
This. I'm very concerned that we could be going into next season without a legitimate backup to Jolly. If they hinder Witts's progress it will be for good reason.

I am not 100% sure on this but one concern would be the damage full contact sport could do to the pacemaker and its wiring which is placed fairly superficially. Whether the pacemaker has the capacity to upregulate his heart beat to the levels required for elite sport I am not sure. Normal execise progams are fine for someone with a pacemaker.

Just on the topic of the thread.....There is absolutely no way we would use #82.
It would make absolutely no sense to trade #42 & #48 away for #39 if we intended to use 5 picks.
We will be out by #39.... That you can count on.

Can someone confirm for me how many spots on our list are vacant now? 4, 5 or 6?
