Seems the WCE are turning into the Howard government, hiring consultants to consult instead of hiring them to do the job.

Making German a runner, in my opinion, is a brilliant move!! We now have an assistant coach( I don't rate Lovell as a coach) running around telling players what to do. How stupid must the AFL be to fall for the "i changed me job title" trick. Doesn't matter what you call P.German (coach, runner, monkey man) he will still have the same role.

But on the serious side, good to see the club is smart enough to make changes now rather than wait for the end of season cull.

Also, i reckon Wiley and Lovell will be sacked end of season.

Wiley has been at the club for over 10 years, with all the changes at the club i wouldn't be surprised if Wiley either gets sacked or takes the freo job.

He was offered the freo job back in 1999, but he declined it and Drummy got it. Maybe this time he'll take it.

Looks like these changes have fallen flat on our faces. Lovell is now the Junior Development Officer (handling all the rookies) while Peter German has a "Development Role".

Thats right. Eagles were told by the AFL that German could not become a runner as he was part of the coaching staff. He can next year though, if he isn't put on the coaching panel!

News from the other mob...

With Ben Allan stepping into the caretaker coach's job at Freo because of his loyalty to the club, Freo have now given up looking for a coach from outside the club for next year.

As of 2002, Freo will be coached on a roster basis by the mums and dads of the senior squad, with the parents of the rookies asked to help out as runners, or maybe as chief executive if they have the time and a bit of accountancy knowledge. Not only is this plan set to save the club a massive whack of cash each year, but it also ensures that expectations of the club will be at absolute zero, and anything and everything they do can then be referred to as "a big improvement".

It is also hoped that having Mrs Modra nearer the field will get Tony a few more free kicks once the umpires get fed up with her constant complaints about how biased they are against her son...
