You are correct.
It is an achievement that should not be underated.
Not one AFL captain from the other etams had us in the top 8, the same with most of the media.
Obviously there was a dissapointing period of 2 month but so far a great season by a developing team.
A win in the finals is what we should really be aiming for now.

There are still a number of scenarios but the 8 is unlikely to change now. If NM can win both of their last 2 against WC in perth and Melb and the Hawks lose to Freo next week and Coll then NM takes Hawks spot in the 8.

If Hawks beat Freo they are safe, if we beat the Cats we take 5th and then the final round between us and Freo in Perth is a battle for fifth (if we lose to the Cats and Freo lose to Hawks then we could still take 5th).

If the Swans lose to Bulldogs and then beat Brisbane at the Gabba and we lose both we would finish 7th. If the Hawks win both and Swans win 1 and we lose both we could finish 8th.

So we could still finish anywhere from 5th to 8th which is the same scenario we faced last year after round 20.

Actually, we were still in with a chance for 4th IIRC.

Dogs had a tough last few games, and at this stage last season it was looking likely that our match with Crows was going to be for 4th.

3 weeks later, we're in Brisbane and find ourselves out of finals. Things can change pretty quickly - going to be a big 3 weeks.

love it. No one, bar Blues supporters, picked us to make the 8 this year

Not all .. plenty on here didn;t at the start of the season, I wasn;t one of them :) I had faith...we had a chance to make the 4, but that loss to North was crucial...but I'm rapt that we've made the 8 and proud.

However two more games to go...we have a really great chance next week..Go Blues

and I listed us at 8th. .. Mind you I had Adelaide and Brisbane in my eight too. .. I think I had 6/8 right tho. ..

Ok so who does every1 want to play in the first week?

I think the most likley scenario is we will play Freo in Perth or the Hawks at the 'g'

In order for us to play the Swans we need Freo to beat the Hawks in Tassy this week, which is unlikely, Freo are down on confidence and quality atm and are a young team

If we play Freo at home it wouldn't it more than likely be played at ES? the Swans at the 'g' is possible but even that might be played at ES

Freo at the G a week after beating them at Subi.

These results have a funny way of tending to go the other way when it matters.

i.e. winning both H&A games against Lions last year, but then losing the EF.

I could see us winning at Subi, and then getting done by them in Melbourne.

Hawks in Melbourne still the preferable choice for me. This would surely be the best finals game to watch for us given the options - I'm more interested in this, rather than an easy beat.

Freo - anywhere before Hawthorn.

I'm prepared to wait a week to attend my first final in melbourne if its going to be a semi.

We play Subi very well and Freo are out of form. I would be very confident going in. Much prefer them in Melbourne but I think it will be too hard unless we beat the cats.

Anyone but Hawthorn.

I have the eight going down as;

1 - Collingwood
2 - Geelong
3 - St Kilda
4 - Bulldogs
5 - Fremantle
6 - Carlton
7 - Sydney
8 - Hawthorn

Finals Week 1

Friday: Carlton Vs Sydney (MCG) -- Carlton win

Saturday

Geelong Vs St. Kilda (Etihad - day) -- Geelong win
Fremantle Vs Hawthorn (Subiaco - twilight) -- Hawthorn win
Collingwood Vs Western Bulldogs (MCG - night) -- Collingwood win

Week Two

Saturday: Western Bulldogs Vs Carlton (MCG - Day) -- Carlton win
St Kilda Vs Hawthorn (Etihad - Night) -- St Kilda win

Week Three - Preliminary Final

Friday: Collingwood Vs St. Kilda (MCG - Night) -- Collingwood win
Saturday: Geelong Vs Carlton (MCG - Night) -- Carlton win

Week Four - Grand Final

Collingwood Vs Carlton (MCG - Day) -- Carlton win

A bit of fantasy, sure... However, we can all dream.

I dont care who we play or where. A final is a final, and we are as good a chance of winning against any team in a final, yes even the top 4, if we play the kind of football we know we are capable of. I would be happy with a first week final win and would rather we won on merit than falling over the line. On merit we ought to be able to beat Sydney or Freo anywhere, and whilst the Hawks are still a bit of an unknown I think we ought to be able to beat them too. So it dont much matter to me. A home final of course would be better for the fans, and I prefer that but from a playing perspective, it shouldnt matter.

I love it and it's even more sweeter as no-one (all the so called experts) had us in the 8 at the beginning of the year.

I want to play anyone anywhere but if I had a preference I'd like it to be either Sydney or Fremantle here in Melbourne and hopefully at the G, not ES.

:D

All I want is a Melbourne Final and a decent ammount of intensity from the lads. .. We shouldn't care who we play. ..

However, I'd prefer not to have a bruising encounter first up to give us the best chance of been in good shape for the second week if we managed a win. ..
