Finals Experience...

Just a quick question .... how many of Geelongs players that played througout last years finals campaign and more importantly the GF had never played in a final before 2007 ???

There has been discussion on the bulldogs board about us a handfull of players who have never played in a final... (to surprise, experinced players in murphey and hahn) ...

Obviously finals experience will help Geelong a long way in 08, however i was wondering how experience / inexperienced was the Geelong team in 07 going into the finals ??? & which players had never played a finals game before ???

If you remember last year Port had far superior finals experience to Geelong, so I wouldn't say it really matters.

agreed....... however they won the GF in 04 and many of there list in 07 would not have played during that period of sucess... Geelong having won the GF last year would be carrying a lot more FRESH finals experience into 08 then Port did in 07..... i do understand what you are saying though.

Several Cats had a few games of experience with 2004-5, although only Milburn, maybe Scarlett, Wojac and King would have played in 2000's loss to the Hawks. King may have played some in '96-97 also.

Probably won't make too much difference, although it may be more the mental pressure from a Dog perspective of getting into a Grand Final. Dogs have played in several preliminaries in recent years, 1985, 1992, 1997, 1998 without converting any into a Grand Final berth. Might be a bit like our Grand Final performances though, they can be overcome!
