Clearly we would prefer not to go to perth. But our destiny is in our hands. If we win, great. if no, we do what we must. Go to perth and put our best foot forward against eagles.

Surely if we win tonight Steele would think about jumping on a plane to Darwin? He’d miss the first final against Saints but he cherry ripe if we made week 2?

100% the benefit of a win tonight is this.
If Richmond play Brisbane in the first final they'll do nasty things to them. Port would give them a far bigger challenge.
However we'll win 4 on the trot and take home the 'Who cares' premiership that was 2020.

Obviously St Kilda at the GABBA is a potentially easier assignment, but the Eagles might be a bit more vulnerable than people assume.
Yeo and Redden are unlikely to play which takes away a lot of their midfield hardness. Shuey will probably be back, but returning after recurring hamstring troubles so might be underdone. If we could curtail the NicNat-Kelly influence we might be able to establish a midfield dominance and lessen the threat of their tall forwards. Kennedy has an ankle injury so might not be 100% even if he plays.
We might need to consider playing an extra tall forward to nullify Kennedy Darling Allen and Waterman.

On the flipside , Beating port going into a match against the saints at the Gabba , i hope we wouldnt get complacent and think its a walk up win after belting them earlier in the season

Hate to say it, but tigs look good for another flag. Cats and lions the sides who could challenge. Eagles possibly, but I have doubts on them in Qld.

Our last 3 finals against them have been at the G (2W/1L).
The last time we played them in a final in the West was 2007 at Subiaco when we went over and beat them in overtime!

Agree it's become a real storied rivalry with a lot of really close battles too with only 1 one sided contest (the QF replay in 1990).
1990 - A draw & then a one sided win to us in 1990 (10 goal win).
1994 - A loss by less than a goal at the WACA (I think that was 1 v 8 (us) - McGuane dropped a mark inside 50 in last 30 seconds)
2007 - An overtime win for us.
2011 - 20 point win to us at the G (QF)
2012 - 13 point win to us at the G (SF)
2018 - 16 point loss in QF & 5 point GF loss
What will 2020 bring?
