I'm the father in our situation and I'll be there whatever the day.

Easy answer. Tell them you have three tickets to the game, ask them along and then when they refuse, they will surely say "but you just go along and enjoy yourself".

And if they say they want to come, then while you're up for three tickets, you still get to see the game.

I hope Staurday Arvo or Saturday night.
But I reckon the AFL will stich us up and play it on Sunday.

If Geelong V Hawks is Friday we'll get a Saturday game. No way they'll make us play the loser on a 6 day break compared to 8. Shirley

Yes I nearly ended up divorced in 2007 when I tried (unsuccessfully) to get out of a family function to get to the 1st Semi against Hawthorn.

Still a very raw nerve with all parties.

It's the idiot who schedules family functions during the finals that should be castigated - I mean what kind of inconsiderate idiot does that?

Friday night prime time blockbuster Hawthorn v Geelong, lock this one in 100%. Easily will be the highest rating game of week 1. So that means we'll definately be sat day/night, otherwise loser of Haw v Gee will have a 2 day rest advantage over the winner of Nth v *ess in week 2 if our game is on the sunday. The AFL aren't that ****ing stupid to do otherwise.....are they????

in the 2013 finals series the second elimination final between Coll and PA was on a sat night at 7.45. the first elimination final was played on sunday Rich v Carl at 3.20 so going by this recent precedent we should be on Sat night as we r in the 2nd elim final

Freo v Sydney has to be sat night
Leaving essendon v north sat arvo west coast port Sunday
I think Sydney will play fri night
Otherwise loser- fremantle can't fly out direct until Sunday

Not really. It's an obvious disadvantage for 6 v 7 (as opposed to 5 v 8 which is played soon after 1 v 4).
