Right now we are watching the most over-officiated game of all time (and the other 5 finals haven't been much better). While there doesn't appear to be any bias, the umpires have shown time and time again that they are incapable of adjudicating the game with any form of consistency.

Part of the blame has to fall with Gil. How can umpires be expected to perform when there are multiple rule changes each season? How can they be expected to perform when almost every rule is subject to a substantial grey area? How can they be expected to perform when their job is a part-time hobby and not a proper job?

Things need to change before we see a Grand Final ruined by this.

Even when they’re “over officiating” they still miss a bunch of free kicks. Umpiring needs to get allot stricter as whole. The sooner they crack down the sooner players will adapt and stop trying break the rules.

Finals commentating or just commentating on CH7 in general needs the royal commission. Luke Darcy’s voice has broken more times tonight than a 12 year old boy’s. It’s ridiculous!! Luke Darcy shouldn’t be anywhere near a microphone. absolute noice pollution!

Your Honour,

I have absolutely no idea what we are doing here. I usually deal with serious s**t but apparently you need to give me $100K to find out the game is impossible to umpire with a rule book full of subjective interpretations.

And that Ray Chamberlain is an egotistical twit.

100%. This is the problem. By giving leeway you create this mess.

At one stage Razor Ray blew his whistle to call play on tonight.

Channel 7 coverage is so crap, including the umpire mics. Whistle. "Hold there". Whistle. "Play on". "Play on". "Not fifteen". "Thanks mate". Whistle. Whistle. "Rucks nominate".

Turn up the mics in the crowd and turn off the umpires (save it for the replays).
