The way we're going at the moment, we'd be the club of choice to play in the finals.

People can say all the players look shot and mentally exhausted, but I think finals will be a whole different ball games. All the players are going to play their hearts out.
Either way, will be good to get some finals experience into the youngsters.
I dont, you cant flick the switch. One off game in the past has been seen to be okay. But 6-7 weeks is another story.
The next 2 weeks will be really important in the telling. Im sure the players wouldve had thoughts that "we wont play finals anyway now" "whats the point" ect. But now we knowingly will, hopefully that mentality changes.
Carlton and Richmond are good little test leading in.
I still think the issue is physical as much as mental. We have shown in previous seasons that we don't have the stamina to play out a whole season. But this year there is a crucial difference. We started playing crap football when the training prep for the finals began around the time we played Collingwood. If it wasn't for that training increase, i think we would have had the fitness to run the season out for the first time in years. If that had been allowed to happen we would have been able to see how much mental off field issues were effecting the players, but as it is i don't think we can know the extent of the effect. As such what it comes down to in my opinion is whether the players have the fitness to make use of the lift in training and come back into form. If that happens the next issue is players injured or returning from injury. Because of that issue i doubt we will be much of a threat in the finals even if we do return to form. The only hope is that Hurley comes good quickly and Licka and Heppell get back in before finals and hit the ground running. If that happened and the rest of the team stayed healthy? Well... a slim thread of hope i guess.I dont, you cant flick the switch. One off game in the past has been seen to be okay. But 6-7 weeks is another story.

you think? Port would provide a much sterner test then the way you blokes are travelling... do you seriously think you will win another game this year? All your coaches can't possibly be coaching the side at the moment and your players look listless and distraught. One thing we can count on is that we'll have Port Adelaide and Richmond fans cheering us on this week hoping we can end the Blues finals chances.
I think the Tiges would much prefer to take on Port in Melbourne rather than Carlton/Essendon at the G.
I think the media has influenced people like Hird says. The reality is that every club has a supplement program and every club does what it can to be on the bleeding edge. To not do so would be a failure of duty to the club. So the question is, should Hird be sacked for failing to keep a tight enough leash on those in charge of the program? That is somewhat debatable, but in my opinion that is a failure of management rather than coaching. All management should bear some responsibility and the CEO stood up and said the buck stopped with him when he quit. Hird can look anyone in the eye over the orders he gave to those in charge. "Nothing illegal, nothing harmful".you think? Port would provide a much sterner test then the way you blokes are travelling... do you seriously think you will win another game this year? I feel for you guys who have supported your team all year, my old man is a bombers man however how you are still supporting hird staggers me... if anyone else was coach he would have been sacked back in feb.
I think Hirds big emphasis throughout the whole drama underlining is he wants the players to be able to play in a finals series that they are deserving of.I agree with all of this. At the risk of sounding negative, if we are going to get smashed in week 1 then what is the point of playing finals? Experience maybe, but the confidence it could take from players would be devastating.
I would be happy to pass on finals this year if I had a guarantee we would hit finals next year with the confidence shown playing our best footy.
Having said that, IF we can return to our best footy, we are a good chance of getting to week 2.
