I love seeing the old jumpers on modern templates. I've got a couple of old long sleeve Footscray ones from the 80s in my collection but it's great seeing it brought back from time to time with all the modern sponsors and logos.
Was fantastic to see the old Bears guernsey last week. Are they going to wear a Fitzroy one this year?

As far as I'm aware, they won't. I don't follow Brisbane much so I can't be certain but I think they do a heritage style every 2 or 3 years. Something to do with the Hall of Fame alternating between a Bears and Fitzroy design each time. I agree, it was great seeing the old Bears guernsey last week.

Found one of my whales, not quite the exact one but pretty close, too close to let it go by.

1996 Peter Matera Centenary year pre season player issue, signed by himself, Woosh, Jacko, Bret Heady and Cuz, cuz has signed it with the 35 after his sig, as was his number for the first few years. Got it from a guy selling it through gumtree, he had it in storage sinse he got it in 96, so the sigs are very bold, the whole thing looks brand new! Matera was All Australian in 96, and it nows goes nicely with my matera 94 away P.I, another year in which he was AA & brownlow medal runner up.

Probably not as much as a whale as some of the gear on here but I have been trying to find one of the caps that were given out in the crows 1st or 2nd season. They were yellow and red with an alternate coloured "A" on the front. See very very few people in the crowd with them these days but I am desparate to get one

1996 Centenary player issue away

It has been signed by the 1998 team Not really sure why, and that is a little dissapointing, especially to have names on there that were'nt on our list in 1996. Still very hard to find these days, would much prefer it had no sigs at all but didn't want to let it slip just because of that.

Number 37 on the back, was worn by the very deocrated Craig Smoker, who played a grand total of 0 games for us!!

A player issue is what they've worn in a match then sold it off or prepared to suit the player.

Yeah basically. They are just the guernsey's made for that specific player, so will have the number printed into the material, GPS pocket on the back, in some clubs like the eagles it will have the eagles logo watermarked throughout it, and some are a different, more tailored, cut than the retail versions you buy in the shop.

Also tho i claim mine, well most, to be player issue only. as i got one of my guernseys from Robbie Gray himself. I know it was match worn but have no way to prove it except what robbie told me. so unless i have a COA or what ever from the club i just say its player issue.

For me, it's these two. Ideally player issue or at least original retails, not the recent replicas of which I have the diamonds. Only just recently noticed the shoddy replication of the AFL logo on these. I've seen the 96 preseason on eBay once, and I forgot about the end of the auction and missed it. Still spewing about that.

It has been mentioned to me previously that Mero could get these made up. But it's just not the same. No offence but it's kinda like getting a fake Rolex or Tag from Thailand.

Gave it a bit of thought and browsed through footyjumpers for a while and made up a list. I'm not as into the old cotton/wool long sleeve jumpers as many are, usually just like something I can wear over a hoody.

I don't really care in which form they come - I'm not fussed as to whether they're player issue/retail at the time or re-releases down the track, I just love these designs. Obviously, a few of them aren't all that difficult to obtain. Unfortunately, failing technology (computer died last week and phone is on it's last legs) is sucking the life out of me at the moment so I haven't got the cash to pursue any of these.

If you know for certain, then explain that in a letter and list as Match Worn with LOA (Letter of Authenticity). Not quite as "official" as a COA, but at large auctions, LOA is the next best thing.

Yer true! But i dont want to ask Robbie Gray to do that for me lol.... But for mine it doesnt bother me as i doubt i will ever sell them.
But if i do list its just as hard to get player issue ones from port as it is match worn!
