Great post.
Clearly Geel needed Holmes’ run and tank to fill a glaring deficiency and therefore gave him consecutive games.
With Finn our midfield was stacked and hence there were less opportunities.

Big brother is a huge accumulator at AFL level but neither is quick and neither is an in and under inside mid or ever will be. But we kept having poor picks or trading them, so with an aging list and poor youth other than Nick, he needs a couple of years to prove himself and needs our support. Reefe was a mid and I hope we give him some time there as well. Others like Harrison and Carmichael etc are unlikely to make it but may surprise and again, thats what we have in the cupboard so we have to give them all time. We just dont have kids to replace Pendles, Sidey, Howe, Mitchell, Billy and even Checkers when their time comes. While we are in the last stages of our window, they shouldnt get games ahead of the older better guys but once we are cooked as a team, they may as well get a long run at it.

You may need to re-think your wording/phrasing.

The club did not starve Macrae of opportunities, better players starved him of opportunities.

Max Holmes forced his way into a premiership side in his second year. Macrae didn’t.

You can blame that on opportunity but the difference was one improved themselves during the offseason to get themselves up to AFL standard whilst the other didn’t.

Surely no-one with a straight face could possibly argue that over the last 2 years that he is/was a better player than Pendles, JDG, Nick, Crisp, Adams, and Mitchell????
