Absolutely terrifying to hear that on the way home from the G tonight. So relieved they were discovered, hate to imagine what could have occurred.

Obviously dumb enough to take guns to a footy game, but then dumb enough to cause a scene at the footy and THEN dumb enough to not leave when asked by security - so the cops came

This will mean extra security at the gate for the foreseeable future, too

Incredibly dumb. We are just fortunate they weren’t dumb enough to pull them out and threaten someone causing crowd panic or worse shoot someone.

Also a bad failure on the part of security that these weren’t detected.

We will very much enjoy the longer queues for searches now. Did they go through the normal security protocol or did they manage to bypass it?

Security staff are bored minimum wage workers. Hard man glares at them "move along".

MCG hears a service provider say the magic word "AI", offering a cheaper scanner. "If it's AI it must be super dooper" they think. Look inside. Cheap scanner operated by bored minimum wage workers.

Plenty of people walk in service entrances with a hi vis vest on.

Firearms can be made of polymers, depending on the angle of the scan the small amount of metal can be hard to interpret.

It doesn't distract from anything - in fact it informs your point. These guys are idiots - getting loaded guns into the MCG is an issue. Guys of this calibre doing it is a whole other level.

Gotta be some serious weapons charges at least and lifetime bans from the G as a venue

Wonder if other venues can do bans as well even if the breach wasn’t specifically at the site like the tennis centre, marvel and interstate

Heard on ABC news that the one who had the loaded weapon had also altered its serial number, and has been charged with, wait for it - violation of bail.

So as much as we can criticise the MCG security, perhaps he shouldn't be out and about in the first place. I don't want to do the Herald Sun's job for them lol but WTF is going on.
