What am I sacrificing?

Do we give up the 2022 trophy we just won because I think an unrelated team of men from another club from over a decade ago we’re just as good? I didn’t know this. Thanks for telling me.

It’s not the nature of sport. It’s the nature of your brain.

It’s a sacrifice because you said the saints team would beat your 2022 team. This was done because if you said cats 2022 would beat the saints it also means Richmond 17-20 would beat saints, which in turn means Richmond rivals Geelong 07-11 in some capacity and you just can’t have that. It would annoy you too much.

You can play it off all you like but that’s the case. Imagine thinking a flagless team with less HOFers and in the 1v1 era would beat a dynasty team with more HOFers and a team system. Like what even. You are in the minority here.

Ok mate you don’t have to believe in sports science if you don’t want to.

Btw using H&A games to determine the strength of the teams is so wrong I don’t know where to begin. The comp is stronger than it was back then. Everybody in the 8 can win it, you don’t just have 2-3 contenders cause everybody else was crap. Refer to the undefeated teams back in black and white tv for evidence. Or do you think they would smash Geelong 07-11? Probably not cause you want it both ways.

Why is the comp stronger now? Is it because there are two extra teams and the general consensus is that the talent is diluted? Has that somehow made the comp stronger?

The team in 7th in 2009 went 13-9.
The team in 7th in 2022 went 13-8-1 (and lost a match to North Melbourne in an undoubted demonstration of their quality)

You and every other halfwit Richmond supporter have told us all that your 2022 side was flag quality despite losing a close elimination final yet here you are with your warm milk in hand and your rubber sheets telling us that a side who went 20-2 and lost a grand final by a bee’s d1ck is no good.

Stop thinking everyone’s opinion is an attempt to rag on Richmond.

There’s a lot of other things I could rag on them about beyond ‘I think a team from another period was as good as them.’ But no you can’t wrap your head around that.

Thanks for mentioning the word system again it had been at least 2 seconds since you last mentioned it.

Funny isn’t it how when it’s 2009, players like Tom Harley and Josh Gibson and others playing as a spare man in defence and rotating specialist players like Matthew Scarlett out of the traditional fullback role into an attacking backman’s role and the rest of the defence slotting in and out of various parts of the field is virtually ignored but if it’s a team from a decade later it’s referred to as a ‘system’ as though it is a licence to print money and win a debate 😂😂😂

Are all the undefeated teams in the past better than Geelong 07-11? Yes or no. H&A games is relevant here.

Of course it’s stronger, more competitive and all teams have their own systems. Blues didn’t make the 8 and they would demolish everybody in the 09/10 comp not in the top 4.

He also said 'sports science'. It sounds interesting, I might read up on it.

It’s an actual thing and term you know. Dunno how you didn’t know that.

All one of them?

Maybe. Certainly over the stretch of a season they have to be in the argument. I didn’t watch them, as they played over half a century before I existed. None of the teams I’ve watched have been anywhere near what we were over an extended period but I didn’t watch anyone before I was born did i. I bet the great Melbourne side that went 97-23 and won 5 comps on 6 years were pretty good.

Systems though, it’s just systems but hey. I just can’t get over the systems. It’s a wonder there aren’t 18 premiers a year with all their systems.

Oh yeah rotating is all team system is. What a moronic comment. Flooding wasn’t a thing and defenders pushing up to the fwd 50 to lock the ball in wasn’t a thing. Why do you think Clarkson cluster was so successful and revolutionary.

You need to read more history mate and not just discard what suits you. Your 07-11 team was the last 1v1 dynasty. Since then 1v1 has become obsolete. Your are just gonna have to deal with that and wait for your next dynasty.

Flooding wasn’t a thing?

Google ‘Essendon vs Bulldogs 2000’ and tell me how the articles mention that the Bulldogs’ victory was achieved by 22 players arriving in a Delorean from 15 years into the future who came up with this revolutionary flooding idea and had to explain it to Terry Wallace.

Do you seriously think that in the history of Australian rules football, game plans have only just been invented in the last decade 😂😂😂

F*** me coaches really did have it easy didn’t they

St.Kilda 09 would convincingly beat any of Richmond's recent premiership sides.

And I'm confident in that. Jack Graham or no Jack Graham.
I'm not going to get in the debate about who is better, but in 20 years time people will look at past results and see Richmond having a Dynasty with 3 flags while the Saints the 00's won't even be thought about.

Yep all one of them. The fact that you said maybe, shows you have no clue. I’m not debating this anymore with you.

Perhaps.

Even now though you still hear people talking about ‘oh wasn’t that a great era in the 80s when Carlton and Essendon were fighting it out, Hawthorn were always there and Fitzroy didn’t win anything but they had a bloody strong side.’

Yes clearly ultimately that doesn’t earn you anything it’s not going to build your trophy cabinet but the point is sides can be of high quality without having won the silverware that often accompanies it

No clue? You just tried to claim that flooding has arrived recently while completely ignoring the fact that the most famous example of the tactic was 23 f***ing seasons ago 🤣🤣🤣

You’re not debating it at all. You’re stomping your feet making no sense because you simply make s**t up as you go and simply refuse to actually educate yourself.

Even the fact that you asked me about undefeated teamS - teams PLURAL - when there has only ever been one of them is a giveaway that you know as much about history as Conan the Barbarian knew about the dangers of having sex with strange witches. Ie. not much.

As per the thread title.

The only real contenders are:
Carlton - 16 premierships
Essendon - 16 premierships
Collingwood - 15 premierships
Hawthorn - 13 premierships
Melbourne - 12 premierships
Richmond - 12 premierships

Can Essendon or Carlton win a premiership before Collingwood win 2, Hawthorn win 4 or either Melbourne or Richmond win 5?
Geelong because they have won 50 flags in the inaugural no one gives a * competition of 1654-1800

Also cue the AFL era teams who will likely whinge here

I actually think Carlton btw

Yep same with cats not having a b2b. That’s the first thing people will look at and think they are the worst dynasty, couldn’t even defend the flag 🤣 it’s inevitable. Fun fact they are the only team to have won 3 flags and not had a b2b with it in their dynasty. Amazing lol just terrible.
