I haven't posted for quite a few days, it's hardly like my threads are dominating the board...and again, don't like it, ignore it.

God forbid!
And these idiots posting images of the thread list showing a lot of threads started by PerthBoy ... from June 25, June 27, July 2, July 14
Seems like he's the most popular thread starter here!

I see the saints as the next to break the drought out of those listed, with a servicable forward line, good young mids and a backline that won't cave if the midfield competes well they are well positioned with age. They cover for Roo well enough when he is out the team so the reliance isn't what it used to be and given the experience the team is gaining and the amount of players coming towards the 100 game mark it won't be long before they gain the consistency to compete with the best teams longer and harder.

With us I just hope it isn't a case of almost but not quite good enough...I just want 1 premiership with this group. The more the better obviously, but at least 1 please. I don't want it to be YET ANOTHER case of us having a very good team, but missing a decent KPD or KPF, or a really fast midfielder. I think 2019-2022 is our big window. Boyd, Bont, Stringer, Libba, Macrae, Hunter, Daniel, etc. all in their prime. Saints next in line, think they'll build nicely for 2020-2024. Melbourne are a very close 3rd.

Even after everything my club has done to shaft itself I still think we will win one before a couple of those clubs.
Might not be in my lifetime though

Can't see how the Dogs can win the next one out of OPs list of teams. Midfield is decent but they lack any sort of key talls that separate the boys from the men during September. I actually have Melbourne as the next to win the cup if they manage to keep McDonald and Hogan they will have a fairly even team that won't have many holes at all... they will be competing in 4 years time and I can see them winning a lot of games... but GWS will always be there ahead of them.

You jump in with the following at post #2...

Stop making threads

...then post four times on page 1 discussing the premise of said thread:

That's why the AFL is a joke of a business .. GWS have been handed a premiership on a platter as Freo is the only one who hasn't won one in there first decade of existence whilst there isn't a single Melbourne Stkilda or Bulldogs fan under the age of 60 who would remember a premiership

Been watching melbourne play for 25 years now ... so yeah

Not sure if next year is the year too many key players under 100 games still unless Petracca or someone turns into a star like Stringer did so early

Isn't that last sentence so true
I'm sure saints fans are the same, I'd literally kill just to see one that's it .. not greedy
My old man's in his 60s and I know it would mean the world to him to see a single flag before time catches up to him

**** I love BF...

I think one thing that will hold us and WB in good stead out of these 4 teams is that both clubs have been at the pointy end a couple of times in the last 20 years, including while some of those who are currently playing were there, which I see as a big reason why we for instance beat Melbourne every time, even though they're a similarly placed team.

It's that extra leadership and experience we have and with each game that the young ones play with the likes of Riewoldt, Dempster, Montagna, Fisher and co. (and Murphy, Morris, Boyd at WB) they are learning off them and these guys know how to win games of footy and how to go deep into September and so-on and will be passing on this wisdom.

Melbourne and Richmond on the other hand haven't been to even the prelim stage for at least a dozen years and I think it plays a big part in why Richmond haven't ben able to win a final and why Melbourne may experience something similar when they start to play finals again. There will be mental demons there for both these clubs, like there will be for WB getting past the prelim stage (they've lost their last 7) and us winning a GF (we've lost at least our last 4).

Talent is one thing, know-how and actually getting it done and going deep into September are another and the two teams with recent experience of these things will have an advantage in this area I'd say.
