Sam Groth is facing calls to stand down amid revelations he misled a senior colleague and wrongly used her taxpayer-funded chauffeur-driven car to ferry him and his wife almost 100km home after a boozy day at the Australian Open.

The Herald Sun can reveal that in January last year – before former pro tennis player Mr Groth was elevated to deputy leader of the Victorian Liberals – he used then-opposition upper house leader Georgie Crozier’s chauffeur-driven vehicle to take him and wife Brittany from the tennis to Rye.

Sources say that he had told Ms Crozier he wanted to borrow the car for a work event, and when she found out “he was smashed” and used her driver to take the couple home, she “confronted him and rebuked him”.

An American bulldog belonging to pop sensation Tones and I has killed a 17-year-old cavoodle, after it escaped the star’s $7m Mornington Peninsula mansion.
The traumatic incident led to the singer songwriter’s pet being euthanized and saw her charged by the local council.
The deadly attack happened while the 32-year-old, whose real name is Toni Elizabeth Watson, was in the shower on a November day last year.
Mornington Peninsula Shire prosecutor Colin McLean told the Dromana Magistrates’ Court on Thursday that neighbour Wayne Schultz had set off on a walk with his two cavoodles when he noticed Watson’s chocolate labrador Charlie outside her Mount Eliza property, unable to get back in because the electric gates were closed.

I get her name wrong and I blame former Aussie player Nicole Pratt. She was commentating one of her games a few years back and she kept calling her Kas-takina instead of Kas-atkina.

So I kept saying it incorrect as a joke and now I can't stop!
