Can't believe closing arguments are still going! Judge says the defence will be finished today and he will give his final directions on Tuesday. It will take 2 days 😲.

Supreme Court Justice Christopher Beale commenced today’s proceedings by telling the jury that he won’t be starting his final directions to them until Tuesday, a day later than he initially anticipated.

“Mr Mandy will complete his closing address today, and then there are legal matters to attend to, and I will be sending you home then,” he said. “Think of it as a second Easter.”

Beale said they would then get “stuck into it on Tuesday”.

“My charge will take at least two days,” he continued. “I’m working hard to try and compress it.”

One of the jurors replied - “I can imagine” - and laughter rippled through the jury.

Beale said it was important to do things right every step of the way.

AFL might bring back SOO! WA v VIC.
We were just talking about this yesterday.

Western Australia is keen to host a State of Origin match at Optus Stadium next year, with preliminary discussions underway between the AFL and the state government to reignite the concept.

...

Western Australia could have stars such as Chad Warner, Shai Bolton, Jesse Hogan, Patrick Cripps and Kozzy Pickett playing against a Victorian team including Matt Rowell, Nick Daicos, Jeremy Cameron and Marcus Bontempelli.
