Was just looking at the tv guide and it's on Sunday 7:30.

I thought the Pope's funeral was really well done and quite simple compared to previous funerals of Popes. I decided to watch and miss part of the Bulldogs match. I downloaded the service booklet and was able to follow it because of the translation on the page next to the page which showed the prayers in all of the languages used, including Greek and Aramaic. It was good to see the Eastern Churches given a part in the service. I think that's the first time that has ever happened. Australia's only cardinal is an Eastern Rite Ukrainian Catholic.

I think this Pope will really be missed. He was far more open minded than most of the hierarchy. My greatest fear is that a conservative, traditionalist will be chosen as the next point. There are many MAGA like prelates in the Catholic Church who approve of the US 's Christian Nationalism espoused by Trump and his like. Some have spoken out against Francis, which would have been unheard of during the time of other popes. There are a ton of YouTube videos of religious and lay people really criticising him.

I used to be very Catholic religious, though now I enjoy the services of the American Episcopal Church. It's sometimes called Catholic lite. My values tend to be more in line with their values which are more progressive. Francis reminded me of our beloved Pope St. John XXIII, who started the changes in the Church in the 60s. My fear is that the next Pope might be the kind to take us back to before the reforms in the Church.
