During the empanelment process, both the prosecution and defence will have the opportunity to challenge potential jurors, who are set to come from the Gippsland region, before a final panel is sworn in.

Up to 15 jurors are expected to be selected to allow for illness or unforeseen circumstances.

But only 12 jurors will return a verdict at the end of the trial, with the final jury to be determined by ballot before they retire to deliberate.

After a jury is empanelled, Crown prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC and defence barrister Colin Mandy SC will deliver their opening addresses.

The regional town of Morwell, in the heart of the Latrobe Valley, has been bracing for an influx of visitors, including media, in the lead up to the trial.

Hotels and motels across Morwell are believed to be booked solid from this week, with hospitality venues also expecting a rush of customers.

Despite the intense media interest, just six seats in the courtroom will be reserved for journalists, with the remaining seats to be left for members of the public wishing to observe the proceedings.

The trial, before Justice Christopher Beale, is expected to run from five to six weeks.

And what's going on in Spain, France, etc

Electricity has returned to parts of northern, southern and western Spain, the grid operator said, as a blackout sparked chaos for millions across the Iberian Peninsula.
“Tension has now been restored in substations in several areas of the north, south and west of the peninsula, beginning to give supply to consumers in these areas,” Red Electrica said in a statement.
Power went out across Spain, Portugal and France halting train traffic, clogging roads, stopping metro trains and trapping people in lifts before electricity started to return to some areas after hours of disruption.

Emergency services workers carried out 286 rescue operations to free people trapped inside elevators in Spain’s Madrid, the head of the regional government said.

“What we are now dealing with more frequently are cases of people trapped in lifts. We have received 286 requests” for help, the head of the regional government of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, said during an interview with private television station Antena 3.

I would freak the hell out. Especially if it was a packed lift. A near empty lift, I can sort of deal with

In Madrid and elsewhere, customers rushed to withdraw cash from banks, and streets filled with crowds trying in vain to get a signal on their mobiles. Long lines formed for taxis and buses.

Shoppers stripped supermarket shelves bare as panic buying kicked in.

As a precaution, play was cancelled at the Madrid Open tennis tournament for the rest of the day.

God people are ****ing idiots.
And I'd be fine as- I got $400 cash on me atm and fully stocked with necessities.

I can only try GA and it looks like the only seats available are wheelchair. It's hard to do this on the phone !

I will try later using my brother's barcode, but I don't think I can because it's already been used for this game.
As suspected it wouldn't let me use my brother's barcode.

Still only wheelchair available . Could it be sold out? Otherwise why wouldn't they release all the tickets?

When I was selected on a jury a couple of years ago, they announced my occupation and I had to walk passed the defendant and their lawyer. They both had a discussion and then they had the opportunity to challenge my selection. Unfortunately they didn't challenge!
