According to the Bureau of Meteorology’s (BOM) latest tracking map, the system is continuing “to move slowly towards the southeast Queensland coast”, which it’s now predicted to cross at 10am Saturday.

BOM senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury told Today that “the period we’re going to see this system crossing is going to be in the order of six, eight, nine hours”.

Wind gusts of up to 155km/h can be expected as well as driving rain and flash flooding.

A danger zone is in place from Double Island Point in Queensland, north of Noosa, to north of Grafton in New South Wales, including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay and Ballina.
