You're not the only one with no life
If you're feeling better, go out and do something. Don't sit at home, especially during school holidays. The weather's nice. Go to a nice coffee shop or something or a bakery and have a French Vanilla Slice or chocolate eclair. Go to a park or reserve you've never been to before. Take a book and some savoury snacks. Go for a window shop in a small neighbourhood centre like Puckle Street Moonee Ponds.

I wish I could do any of those things, but, well...

Back in the 90s, VicRail had holiday day trips to country towns for $5 I think. I took a train out to Traralgon and had a look around and had a pub meal. I had never been to that part of Victoria and haven't been so since. I used to like going to Akland Street St Kilda on a Sunday to have a look at the nearby craft market, grab some fish 'n chips and get a nice Rum Baba... more like Yum Baba.

I used to plan my school holidays so I didn't just sit around and regret it after school started again. I even remember going to a Sizzler for a loooooong afternoon meal. Friends used to complain that I was never home during school holidays and they couldn't reach me. Now I await any phone call or text any day of the week.

I'm going over to pick up my dinner at our community centre in 30 minutes. While I'm there I'll learn all the latest village gossip. See... you have something to look forward to in about 30 years!

The worst part of my last April school holidays in 1999, was doing corrections, especially VCE English, and spending a day at school helping students who were not doing so well. I did enjoy our lunch at Hungry Jack's across the street from the school.
