Midfielder. We can always go after a KPP backman in 2009 anyway, in what is shaping as a stronger draft. I would rather get a gun midfielder, get a couple of project players with our next two picks (one includes Daniher). This is assuming Judd is not coming to Essendon though

I understand what you are saying but we are at a stage that a mistake with a Defensive player, will have us in big trouble.

What are your thoughts on Rance, as from what i've been told, he is a special player and NOT the type that comes around in every draft.

If we take Rance at pick six we will no be taking the best player. Rance had a great champ series but you have to remember he played in a backline that contained Pears, Browne, Myers etc They where all very good. The lact of any real quality forwards to play against also raises some concerns for me.
Rance is good but he isnt as good as one of the mids we will be able to pick up at 6.

Agreed. And the 2009 draft has quite a few backs in it anyway. We really need a blue chip midfielder, not a backman with our first pick!

Our last two first picks (2005 and 2006) were used to select Ryder and Gumbleton respectively so I'd think the Essendon recruiting staff would be pushing for a midfielder in this draft
