I've changed my mind on McCarthy - at first I was hell-bent on us getting a midfielder, but now I'm not so sure given all of his press and what he can offer to us.

I think we should take the second best available KPP in the pool (McCarthy) if he's still there - and then pick up the best available midfielders to bolster our rotations.

As has been mentioned ad nauseum - this is a shallow draft for KPP, therefore take the best you can early on and then load up on midfielders at the later stages.

Pick #13 - McCarthy
Pick #39 - Bourke/Holman
Pick #51 - Cavarra/Jansen etc

Or ... if we adopt the "take the best available" approach:

Pick #13 - Freeman/Salem/Crouch/Lennon (in no particular order)
Pick #39 - Bourke/Holman/Apeness
Pick #51 - Thorp/Conlon

Either way, I'll happily back the recruiting team in.

But it looks now as if McCarthy to Brisbane is a lock at Pick #7 (according to Brett Anderson), so hopefully that sets off a chain reaction that see's a good midfielder fall to us.

McCarthy would be a great get for you guys. I just rewatched the two WA champs games last night and he was amazing, especially when you consider how raw he actually is. Marked a head of it, harassed at ground level and is really agile at ground level, saw him turn his opponent inside out a few time. When you consider one of his match up's was giles who most rate as the best defender in this group think it says a lot about him.

Your having a Bob each way C4 ------------- Who is the player you really want deep down inside knowing the top 5-7 are never going to get there
Pick a player the fence is giving you splinters

we are the only team not to have interviewed Taylor
Thanks Petro. My gossiper has an involvement with the club but not the footy dept. Got there info. second hand as well. Therefore my info. is fourth hand gossipo_O. Take that FWIW.

Additionally these players are being considered but if a surprise occurs and a player unexpectedly drops then who knows.

If we want Lennon McCarthy has to go at 7 or 10. Otherwise i reckon Brisbane or Collingwood will take Lennon in that position. But it probably leaves us with Acres :)
Didn't Lennon McCarthy form a band some time back. No sorry it was Lennon McCartney. My apologies for intruding. Long off season.

Isn't there an unwritten rule to not tag at TAC cup level so the kids can show what they can do??

I meant at state championships. Not so much a tag, but more a player that runs with him. Given Freeman seems to struggle to find his own ball, having someone run with him seems to be the best tactic to keep him quiet.

This is a very interesting draft. Seems quite likely there'll be a tasty slider for us

1 Boyd
2 Kelly
3 Billings
4 Aish
5 KK
6 Salem
7 McCarthy
8 McDonald
9 Freeman
10 Bontempelli
11 Sheed
12 Scharenberg/Lennon/Acres

Plausible IMO

I'm talking about a potential match winner in Lennon, Ohanlon has show close to squat in 2 years. Injury aside he lacks self belief and fitness.

And lennon may not make it either and I've seen plenty in BO. Either way your describing a 'type' of player which BO is. Now whether they make it is entirely another issue. We wont know this for a long while yet.

Agreed McCarthy must be taken, I'm not convinced he will though

I'm just suggesting we select the best young 3rd forward type in the draft, which fills an obvious hole in our spread of talent on the ground. Ohanlon could be a good player, It's not a choice between him and Lennon, but I'm thinking about having high end talent replace the McGuane's and A.Edwards' of our team, it seems most of our 2nd and 3rd rounders over the last few drafts have been forwards lacking in areas of their game, or physically incapable of performing, that still makes them only potentially good players 2-4 years on.

My current top 20 draft rankings:
Boyd
Kelly
McDonald
Salem
Aish
Scharenberg
Sheed
Lennon
KK
Billings
MB
Acres
Dunstan
McCarthy
Freeman
Gardiner
Merrett
Dumont
Jones
Templeton

Will change another 20 times in the next week haha.

Thats Great Mr !! But who do you want at the Tigers that might be available

Or just make a mock Phantom 1st round lol

Who I want is in that order. If you go by draft predictions the ones I want who will be available are...
Salem > Scharen > Lennon > Acres > Dunstan
Pretty sure the Tigers rate these 5 in the same order too.

Sure but your describing a type of player, a 3rd tall/runner, which O'Hanlon is the same type. all I meant was we do have this type at the club not that we don't need another.
