If Scharenberg is there - We must grab him

Its not just 2014 we will be looking at with a gun young player its 12-14 years of class that must be considered
Aish,Scharenberg,Billings,Kelly,Boyd,McDonald are the A graders in this years draft and if any of these are available (most likely not) - You dont let them slip past

I'd still take Salem personally over all of them bar Billings and Boyd. Will be an absolute jet.

I have reached the point where as long as who we draft becomes the best player from this draft, wins every individual accolade possible and several premierships with us, I may just be okay with our choice

Don't forget the most important achievement our first pick needs to attain before I judge the pick a success. He needs to get a sleeve tattoo no later then his third year with us :p

Of the possibilities, however unlikely:
1. Scharenberg
2. Acres
3. Sheed
4. Lennon
5. Salem
6. Hartung
7. Kade Kolodjashnij
8. Freeman
9. Jones

All in all we will have a very good player.

I'd take Salem ahead of Lennon and Hartung wouldn't be on my list, reminds me of Polec a few years ago the outside stuff catches the eye but he is smaller and there is no inside game, will be a flop at AFL level.

Emma Quayle says Sheed a chance to be there at 17.
I'd not like us to overlook him. He's not a surgeon with the ball, but he does get it lots. Hope he goes before our pick

Rumours the other day WC will take Lennon.

Jones will be way better than Crouch
Agreed. Jones Has all the hallmarks of a league footballer, ball handling, instinct to run and carry and brave. Looks to me another vlas, crouch is much too like priddis with a zillion nothing little rabbit punch possies , prefer others

With a beep test of 16.6 Hartung can outrun most in the game and has developed a game that uses this advantage. We do need a gut runner and he is one of the best. Yes he is a bit small but he goes and goes and goes…….. Not my first choice obviously, but I wouldn't be that upset if we picked him up.

He s a shrimpo though isn't he?

I'll laugh if Hartung gets picked up in the first round. If he hadn't of tested as well as he did in the Beep test, he'd be a late second rounder for me. However, due to his endurance, he will most likely be a mid 20's pick, and even then, I think there are better prospects at this stage.

In terms of small forward/forward flankers which Hartung is, I'd rate him behind:

Lewis Taylor
Dayle Garlett
Jay Kennedy-Harris
Jarman Impey
Dwayne Wilson

and on par with

Ben Sokol
Orazio Fantasia
Charlie Cameron.

I might be in the minority, but I see Hartung as being nothing more than a bigger, more skilled version of Robin Nahas.

He plays best off half back. He is not a forward and as such should not be compared to specialist forwards.

Everything I'm reading about Zac jones makes me think we'll take him on the night. Have a read of the herald sun and age articles and you'll see why.

Dimma would love him.

If Salem and Lennon are taken I'm certain he s our man. He doesn't have the flash or brilliance of those guys but to me looks a vlas clone that would do very nicely as a newy replacement in next 12 months

Being able to run means jack. Polec had a 15+ beep test too before he was drafted. Hartung is tiny and way outside. These players just do not impact at AFL level.

We have Ellis as a gut runner and I would be massively upset if we picked Hartung as he is the kind of player who looks great at lower levels but struggles at AFL level. He is too small, cannot win his own ball and is not fast enough. Gaff already struggles at AFL level and he is bigger and has more inside ability then Hartung will even have.

If sheed is available then i hope we take him ahead of Jones. Jones comes in if none of the top recruits are available Salem, Lennon, Acres, Sheed, Aish, Scahrenberg but one is likely to be available so i can't see us taking him, possibly only Acres we'd take him before and that would be a mistake IMO.

A bigger more skilled Nahas actually sounds like a decent player to me

Soft, Outside, Can't find his own ball, gets brushed aside in tackles. Like Nahas.

Only difference between them is Hartung is somewhat proficient on his opposite foot.

I'll pass on Hartung.
