If Freeman is there I think we will take him ahead of Jones, but not ahead of Salem or Lennon

I get the feeling that Collingwood won't take Salem at 10, if Lennon is still there. They've got a LOT of short players, and they might want a bit more height through the midfield:

Jones is a midfielder who could start in defence like Vlastuin. He'd be our midfield version of Morris and will likely do some tagging roles early in his career (if we get him. )

That's what I had in mind tigs (although I could have been a bit clearer in my post). When he's earnt a call up start him in defence & move Morris maybe into the midfield rotations ? (As you say though IF we get him...) A bit of water to go under the bridge yet.....& I wish it would just just bloody well pass already

Agree. I'd have Jones going anywhere from 17+. Just think there will be better options for us at our pick.

If Lennon and Salem are gone, as could well be the case, and given Freeman is most likely not going to be there, I wouldn't mind us taking Lewis Taylor. Exactly the type of player we are lacking.

Don't even have Taylor in my top 30. Selfish kid who doesn't make the right decisions. He'll be destroyed in the AFL.

Would be interested in views on Bontempelli.

I was initially a fan (194cm with midfield capability and decent disposal skills) but the more I thought about it and read, I worry he is a much higher risk than we should take with a selection.

Despite he being considered anywhere from 3 or 4 onwards, I would pass him if he got to 12.

Doubt it. All rumours point to Jones.

There are no real rumours associating Sheed with anywhere but WCE. But it has been suggested in most rumours that we are waiting to see who falls out of that top group. Salem and Lennon seem the most likely to slip and i'm guessing/hoping that there are no rumours circulating about Sheed as he seems a lock to WCE for most draft followers.

I'm not against Jones after watching champs again but it really depends on who or if anyone slides. If any of Salem/Lennon/Sheed/Aish/Scahrenberg are there i'd hope we take them first.

I've given up all hope of us taking Acres, I really hope he goes to Freo or Geelong.

Obviously it depends who gets through to us. I'd hope FJ hasn't put the blinkers on and overlooks say a Bontempelli or a Sheed if they get through to our pick to take Jones. Jones I see as being very much in the Morris mould. The intangibles of competitiveness, desire, courage are so valuable and he looks to have them. He also looks to be more versatile than Stevie as he has a sidestep and doesn't dive on it to win the ball. Good traits to have. Still I rate Sheed and I think for all of Salem, Lennon, and Freeman to be gone then Sheed has to be still on the table. Draft for talent is the clubs motto and Jones looks to be a grafter. Would be rapt with him in the late teens but think more offensively talented players are available at 12. A lot of people have written off Freeman but I would be so tempted if he was still there with our preferences gone. Preferably however the Demons will take him so as we can grab a more rounded player.

I feel that Bontempelli is going to be one of these players who, every season, will show signs of stepping up and really breaking out, but never does. I just think he is going to be one of these players who is more hype than output, despite having all the attributes to be an elite AFL player.

I just think, at the end of his career, he is going to be one of these players, who, for one reason or another, didn't deliver on his potential and as a result, underachieved. Think Mitch Morton et al.

Just checked with all this talk about the possibility of Zac Jones. His brother Nathan was taken at...........you guessed it pick 12 by the dees. I'd absolutely love it if he was to last until our 2nd pick....I know I'm dreamin,but why not dream

Not from any specific knowledge of mine only the earlier discussions on this thread being at least Salem > Lennon > Freeman > Jones being ahead of Dunstan. Maybe even others such as Acres. Of the names mentioned around our pick, I would take Dunstan ahead of Freeman, Bontempelli, McCarthy but probably not ahead of Sheed, Salem, Lennon and probably not Acres.

Man... If only we had another pick around 18 to pick up Jones... I would love to score Lennon and Jones.
The problem is we probably wont go for Jones because if Salem and Lennon are gone before our pick we will probably score someone like Scharenberg/Sheed/Aish... Which would be ridiculous to pass up.
However, if it ends up being a toss up between Jones/McCarthy/Freeman... I'd take Jones. Just dunno about Freeman and reckon it's the wrong year for us to take another key forward with McBean and Griff hopefully coming through.

I know Lewis Taylor is rated (AFL.com) at going between 10-25 but I just can't see us taking him at 174cm after moving Robbie on. There is'nt any rumour etc I'm just thinking about guys rated in our draft range. My feeling is if we don't get a top 10 slider then we'll probably take Zac jones, just because of what he could bring mentally/physically. Even then I'm unsure cos one of the knocks on his game has been his kicking (which apparently has improved). But I'm pretty sure it's one of the clubs key focus areas in terms of drafting, to take good kicks of the footy. That is also dependent on what the club thinks it can get out of our draft pick developmentally.....Lots to think about....
