Not interested in Acres or Sheed it seems.

Like you kp would feel a bit disappointed with Freeman.

I'll go Salem, Jones, Lennon, Dumont as my top 4 wants. Cripps I rate highly and looks like Blues are going to get him. 192cm Beast in the Jobe Watson mold.

I forgot to slide Dumont in between Acres and Salem but I just assumed we wouldn't bother with him.

Ben Lennon will be the pick, provided no-one else selects him earlier (unlikely). FJ doesn't do smoke and mirrors. They say who they want to certain people (EQ) and then take them (see Ellis, Vlastuin) even if draftniks rate others higher.

Is it cos they are West Aussies?? Otherwise i just cannot understand why we wouldn't be interested in at least sheed.

As good as FJ is in the first round he does seem to be blinded by his favourites, lucky for him Conca, Vlas and Ellis were all available, looks like his 2 favs in Lennon and Salem won't be there this year.

You don't remember Conca and Dea??

I've always like Zac but as kp said that game he played was one of the best games I had seen all year by a single person. He was everything you want in a midfielder.

He's a bull. Another Vlas in that he goes full pace into everything. Good character too. Apparently from one source they said the most determined kid they have interviewed ever.

If Salem doesn't fall, he's the one I want. No doubt.

Geez that makes me want him.

So you know the recruiters at BOTH Collingwood AND Melbourne?

I say that is BS. Sorry. It is not FACT. It may be strong supposition but it is NOT fact.

Lol you mentioned Collingwood. My other post even says I don't know currently who Collingwood will take. There are more ways to know where 2 players are going than knowing recruiters too ;)

Vastly prefer Jones to Freeman.
Hopefully lots of people sig this in future years to show how dumb I am.

But yes, our interest in Freeman is real.

If Pies do take Lennon, WC will consider Freeman instead. Which would leave Jones. No one is taking Jones so he's a certainty if the others are gone.

Give me Dumont Freeman or Jones tomorrow night and I'll be happy.

Dumont is my favorite from this year as everything I've read about him screams out a player that Dimma would love to have in the 22. Performed at senior level already, good disposal, smart footballer and makes good decisions with the footy. The type of kid you just know what you'll get each and every game.

Freeman was my preferred player a couple of weeks back because of the potential he has, but I'm a little scared that he could end up a bust. Still if FJ decides that he is the best available tomorrow night I won't be disappointed. As I said when I took him in the Phantom draft, he would gives us a genuine POD in the midfield with his speed and endurance. Needs to develop a few areas and if he does he'll be a ripper.

Jones I like as he comes across as a kid who could start off on a hbf which allows Vlastuin to move up into the midfield from next year, which in turn would allow Deledio Martin or Cotchin to spend a bit more time up forward as well. In time Jones should move into the midfield as well and going off the reports of his prelim final game he would be a lovely addition.

Not like you to have a bit each way... ;)

We should play a game with the dees before the draft gets underway. Pretend we are into some spud so they take him :D

dey arnt to brihgt dem felas

Dont worry, the generally **** it up all on their own. They wont need our help. :thumbsu:

No offence but you are a woman aren't you. They are the only ones who complain about size so much.(No offence to the women on here)

When you're playing in the midfield and finding yourself at the bottom of the pack it's not going to make much of a difference. What will make a difference is whether the kid can get his hands on the ball ahead of his opponent. Why do you think short asses like Selwood and Ablett regularly beat taller opponents in contests? Has nothing to do with them having better reach than their opponents, it has to do with them being better at reading the ball and reacting faster than them. So who cares if the kid we draft is 179cm or 189cm as long as the kid can get his hands on the ball quicker than the next kid that's all that matters to me.

ha ha , sorry to disappoint you;) but no not a woman.

I know what you say but IMO I think you overestimate the frequency of pack scrambles on the ground. Just look at Dusty near 190cm who tapped the ball like a basketballer before kicking a goal this year or last, or even a James Hird at ground level who, although not Harvey like is clearly more effective than Harvey in the air. To me you are underestimating the importance of reach with inside mids like with Barlow, Fyfe and Mundy as well as marking power where you have teams moving the ball around with kicking like Hawthorn as opposed to pure run. Remember if you move the ball around more by foot than run theoretically it should be less taxing on the body and the team should be fresher in later quarters.

Sure a player can have a better leap but if 178cm is up against a strong athletic 186cm it is hard get an advantage without a little use of the hands etc.. It is not about gender it is about physics:D. You just hope if you are smaller you can beat them with greater heart, speed, enduro , reading the play etc..

IMO one of the reasons Essendon dominated in their period was the use of comparatively taller players like Blumfield and Caracella over smaller types in 2000 period. At the time Sheedy had a better understanding of where the game was going in terms of percentage types a bit like Wells at Geelong.

If we get Jones to me he would be behind Cotch, Conca, Foley and possible others as rovers and we still would be chasing ruck rovers to help Vlastuin so to me Jones doesn't fill a pressing need. Just the way I see it.

Jones will pass Foley by about round 5. His highlights real doesn't show his toughness so only going off other posters but if he his tough and courageous like Morris he will slot straight in.

Hardwick would have a stiffy with these two guys running around.
Can also see the two of them rotating between back and midfield.
