First Round Draft Pick?

Is it time we consider 1st round draft picks up to 18 only? The next 18 are seconds. An early first is 1-6 a mid first is 7-12 and a late first is 13-18 - same applies to seconds. I'm sick of a "first" being considered 18+. Maybe if teams that finish at the top don't actually have a "first" then a revision will occur. Sick of teams being pushed out by Father/sons and academy picks but still having their picks considered a "first round" pick

The first rounder in last year's draft went out to #29.

That's ridiculous and really punishes clubs who don't get PPs, free agency compo or having top end players to trade.

I'd say the bottom 4s picks in that case shouldn't move and whoever has that live pick gets pushed back to #23.

Or ideally, they force the clubs to make an actual choice regarding FS and NGA players in the first round and pay a points premium if they want to use their actual first on another player and pick those other tied players using junk picks.

I’d like to see points locked to picks prior to compo shenanigans.

Then any magically created picks have zero points value.

So if you’re trading with a club who needs points, your natural pick 15 has more value than an artificial pick 10.

No. If you want to refer to a top 18 pick, just call it a top 18 pick.
