True but if we trade for a youngster that is worthy of a 1st round pick then I don't see the problem. If we trade for someone that cannot offer us 10 years of footy then I'd be p*ssed!!!!!!

Yeah its hard to say. We could pick a young player who slots straight in rather than requiring 1-2 years of development. Which player(s) currently on another club's list would you consider trading for that would be worth (hopefully!) a late first round pick?

Hard one to answer with the poll selections. I would not select a midfielder unless they are of outstanding quality compared to the next option. Would go for a ruckman if they are decent, otherwise a KPP player (ie. if there is not too much differential in talent). eg. Consider Brisbane were criticised for picking Brennan ahead of Salopek, who was higher rated ... but they have a great midfield & decided a KPP player was of most importance. Team balance at the end of the drafting/trading period is critical. We lack ruckman & must fix this for 2004.

Depend on what you are after?????? Apart from Jason Laycock, there is not a ruckman worth a 1st round pick IMHO. But Laycock was a top 10 pick last year so you'll nedd a very early pick to get him.

KPP: Jay Schulz, Nick Smith, Tom Davidson.

Midfielders: Cameron Faulkner along with a handfull of Bulldogs' players, Daniel Bell etc.

It depend on what you want.

Christ almighty, the season is not even half over. What possessed you Stiffy?
I was just bored and I tought it would be a good question to ask as we have 2-3 real deficiencies on our list. Its interesting to get everyones perspective on these things.;)

Fair enough. Personally, I reckon we need a ruckman given Marsh would be our backup if anything happened to Biglands or Clarke. Now that would be a nightmare!!

I went against the trend by going for a KPP. The stats in today's 'tiser confirmed that along with the Bullies we are the lowest taker of contested marks.

I have a real concern about our young crop of KPP players coming up. They were looking good at the very start of the season and have gone backwards since then for 1 reason or another. Not 1 of them has taken a step forward out of Hentschel, Bock, Rutten and Smith. Admittedly Rutten has had injury but was looking a tad slow prior to injury.

Look at our goal to goal line. Bassett, Stevens and Carey all trades from other clubs, with only Kenny McGregor being a draft pick.

Bassett is a little light at times and Stevo and Carey have limited playing lives.

A good future CHF, FF or FB is a must IMO if we are going to keep up with the big boys in years to come.

I think I have to agree with you that a CHF is a must. I still think Hentschel will make it but it looks like he is REALLY down on confidence at the moment.

As good as Perrie has been, I wouldn't like us to regard him as our No 1 CHF once Stevo and Carey retire. Rutten is no doubt a telent but has his deficiencies.

Bock and Smith haven't done anything worth mentioning. In fact you are right, all our young KPP have gone backwards this year.

I cannot believe the luck of Collingwood and Port in 2001 draft. Tom Davidson with pick 27 for the pies. This bloke is as good a mark as I have seen. Probably a better mark than Chris Tarrant is at the moment. In fact they are prety much similar types except that Davidson is more of a CHF.

And Port got Damon White with pick 61 I think. A year before that he was rated as a definite top 10 pick but injuries the following year have seen his stocks drpop dramatically. While he has had his fair share of bad luck with injuries I am in no doubt he is a star in the making. A deadset CHF.:(

Can our recruiting staff please find a very good CHF who is an excellent mark??????:(

But having said all that I would use our 1st round pick on the best available. If it came down to KPP or a midfielder who are rated equally then its KPP for me

I'm torn between Best available player or tall forward. Our forward line is passable at the moment but how long do Stevens and Carey have left? We need to make sure we have more options coming through before they are gone, and are forced to trade AGAIN.

I won't be too concerned either way as long as we don't trade our first round pick yet again. In fact I would prefer we go the other way and try to do a trade for a high first round pick and have two first rounders. Surely we've got some excess midfielders that we can trade away. I mean we aren't exactly struggling without Kane Johnson and we managed to get pick 4 for him.

I think our biggest need is for a strong full back capable of playing body on body against the Lloyds and Richardsons as well as stay with them on the lead.

An 18 year old draft pick isn't going to fill that role for the next 4 or 5 years minimum so if someone of that ilk became available, and I don't know who, I'd be happy to swap a very early draft pick to get them, as long as they're no older than say 24 or 25.

We've already made a fairly costly commitment to the likes of Hentschel, Bock & Co. as potential forwards and need to give a couple of them a chance over the next few years.

Did anyone see Josh Willoughby from Sacred Heart and Glenelg on channel 7 tonight saying how he would love to stay in Adelaide and be drafted by the Crows?????? He is a genuine talent and I am absolutely certain thet he'll go in the top 10:(

It looks like he has grown a fair bit. Last year a remember a kid the was 175 cm but i reckon he is about 180 cm now. A dynamite midfielder.;)

I must admit that seems like a rarity with our club in recent times - it will become a bit of a novelty actually having a draft pick first off!

I did a bit of browsing through the TAC Cup website and going by the stats there is a ruckman who is showing some consistency and gathering good stats.

Robert Frankland is listed as a 195 cm and 89 kg but I suspect he will grow at least a couple of cms. Can play forward and kick goals and gets a few marks. He seems to be dominating the hitouts.

I guess we will have to wait and see. Could be a goer.
