First test of the aussie summer

yeah gone are the days of a fully fledged tour - fly straight in and out pretty much.

not sure why they cant have 3 T20's and 3 odi's and a first class game as a lead up to the test series 9 i know all test players don't play the white ball stuff but yeah).

that way as well there would be less touring as teams would only have to tour 2 countries during their winter.
I actually like the way the Women's Ashes works, ODIs played before, which count towards the series points overall, with tests being worth more. Not sure it could work with men's, but it'd make for less meaningless cricket.

Not viable anymore IMO, the way forward is specialists for each format as England have done. I liked the old way and like the way women's cricket does it to, but it isn't coming back.

I accidentally drew an apartheid South African flag once as a kid, because it was in an outdated encyclopaedia.

Not a big deal, except my teacher was from South Africa, so that made things a bit awkward...
Be awkward if they gave you an A...

It is great to see that Justin Langer has been , once again, asked about the sacking and lack of backing he received. A lot of back stabbing went on and he is not missing any one.
Just when some thought it was all over, the question has been asked... again.
I hope it continues.

If Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul open the batting in the 1st Test like they are in the Prime Ministers XI game we could have a candidate for the opening pair with lowest run rate in Test history.

Shows what a selfless bloke he is really. Not that he is on his own there in cricket.

there is another thread for this but the setup seems incredibly cliquey at the moment and not in a good way. Blokes getting games because of their name not because they are any good.

Harris getting runs again but not sure about the attack he is facing.
Roach is world class.
Sealed looks good early in his career.
Joseph is quick and improving now that he's in his prime.

It's a good attack.

West Indies are ****ed
It’s a benign pitch and they’ve still got Holder to come into the side. Batting will be weak though.

Loving the selection of the PM’s XI though, like an old school Aus A side, pretty close to a national second XI. Hopefully they continue this style of selection for the Aus A game against SA, not the development type bullshit sides they picked for years.

They didn't perform too well against a NSW 3rd 11 either

I wouldn’t put too much stock in it, again, featherbed and guys haven’t played much cricket. Roach is a proven gun, Holder very good and I guess it’s down to Joseph or Seales to play the shock troop role. I don’t know how effective Mayers bowling will be in Perth but I can see him being good in the pink ball test. I think they will play all 3 of Holder/Mayers/Chase as all rounders with Roach and either Seales or Joseph filling the final spot. Might be the first time in a while a team has had a genuine all rounder batting at 9 in a test, interesting in itself.

1 too many then.
Idiotic take. Beat England at home this year and performed pretty similar to how we do normally in their last series away to the Poms. Their test cricket has been improving over the past 4 or 5 years and they deserve a seat at the table still. I don’t engage much on this board but from reading your posts I know you’ve very much got the ‘baggy green blinkers’ on and wouldn’t know that
