First time ever a team has the two best players in the league?

Kobe and Shaq were never top 2 players at the same time, which is different to Heeney and Grundy who have never been top 2 players at any time. Imo.

Putting that aside, Bill Hutchinson won back-to-back Brownlows and John Coleman won back-to-back Hisownmedal in the same two-year stretch. Probably pretty hard to top.

Pretty sure Hawthorn in the 80’s, Brisbane in the early 2000’s, Essendon in 2000 and West Coast mid-2000’s would have had the best 2 players in the league at some point.

Black, Voss, Lappin, Aker
Platten, Brereton, Dunstall
Kerr, Cousins,Judd
Hird, Lloyd, Long, Fletcher

Regards

Long no. Great player but nowhere near the best. The 2000 team was more a superstar team than a team of superstars.

Kerr was 2 votes away from being a 2x Brownlow medallist. Runner up to Cousins iirc

In Heeney and Grundy the Swans have arguably the two most dominant players in the comp, has that ever happened before? and how can anyone compete? It is like Man U with Rooney and Ronaldo or the lakers with Shaq and Kobe
Not sure if serious.
Shohei and ****ing Ohtani, man
And together that's three.

Grundy had a great game but he wasn't playing against a top ruck and now someone draws a conclusion he's in the top 2 players in the game? Really?
That's BigFooty for you

Not the two best.

Two very honest very skilled at the ball footy players though.

We smacked Heeny about and he came up smiling. Hes either Aker tier annoying or a genuinely nice bloke...prolly the latter.

No point punching Grundy, he smiles and says something about mung beans and gut health. Hes an ornament to the game.

Only time I have seen Grundy rattled was when Mumford was allowed to poke his eyes and repeatedly punch him in the face at ruck duels in that final.

Please don't remind of the ongoing nightmare my beloved Angels constantly force me to live through.

The Trout-Ohtani era is one of sport's great oddities. The Tungsten Arm era, if you will.
I was gutted when he left the Hamsters to go to mlb, but glad he did. You got to enjoy him for long enough

MIchael Long was never ever been regarded as one of the best players in the League during his career. He was just a good player.
Most overrated ever.

Not that he wasn't handy, but he was never better than handy.

Not sure why the folklore about him arose over time? Presumably the 93 GF - but even then, how Kernahan didn't win the norm Smith for kicking 7 in a losing GF always astounded me.

From all reports a very good man that has done great things post football - but incredibly over rated as a footballer.
