WCE don't want Lecras or Chad Jones.

Dunno. But I reeckon Bruno would be a good fit on your half forward line. Can't fathom why Laidley hasn't given him a fair go. He can play and form has been very good past 2 years. Wasted in the VFL

Pick 18 + Kepler Bradley for Michael Gardiner.

Essendon need a ruckmen and Gardiner is a former no 1 pick. Kepler gets to go home.

Win-win.

Do you honestly think this is a win win??? seriously..........:eek:

As for Lewis' name being thrown around, i would love to know why? Has Hawthorn or anyone of relevance come out and said a thing about him?

NO CHANCE, try another player folks...

There was talk of Medhurst for McGrath but not sure if Lions want players or picks.Would be a good and fair trade for both parties.

Agree Gardiner is hardly worth pick 18.

Could pick up a future star in this draft why waste it on guy who could stuff up again?

Would Carlton/Ess/Kangas want to pay him $400,000 a year in 07 and 08?

Absolutely not in Norths case. We would keep Perry for half the price.

If Hawthorn pursues this path then they would be placing themselves on a slippery slope to being labelled a draft pariah and ostracised by much of the football community. Do they seriously believe that the other clubs wouldn't see through this? They already have the shame of the Rawlings affair all over them. They will not do it again.

Riewoldt >>>>>>>>> Thornton.

No, it's like someone offering pick #1 for Riewoldt. Won't happen.

Thornton wants to leave and will just walk out on the club, leaving the Blues with nothing. The Blues will take #24 + a player.

Are people tha STUPID, Thornton will not be allowed to walk. he will be traded for value or he will be re-signing

Competitively, that's still a good result for the 15 other clubs:
* Carlton keep a guy who doesn't want to be there
* Carlton loses their first pick in the PSD

Ensures that you will remain a mediocre team for several more years at least.

Of course it does, because taking Rawlings hampered the Bulldogs....
Most years the PSD is garbage. You use it to take a gamble, but nothing more.

We would not have to use it on him anyway. Knowing we plan to use it on him, he would re-sign with the club

what's the point of cutting your nose in spite of your face over Thornton?

explain the hypocracy in saying on one hand he's not worth $300K p.a but you want a first round pick for him?

if the club really rated him he'd be signed, sealed and delivered.

Should an early to mid 2nd round be available take it and run.

We have offered him the money, maybe you should read the press before posting

Exactly. Could you imagine a player having to share clubrooms with blokes that he cost a PSD 1 to retain?:o

That would be a chilly couple of years. He wouldn't make them do it.

Moody ---- Freo + Brisbanes 5th

Aka----Dogs

Polak----Brisbane

Bris get Polak, Power and a 3rd rounder, Lose Aka and Moody and a 5th rounder

Dogs get Aka lose power and 3rd rounder

Freo get Moody and a 5th Rounder lose Polak

FAIR?

Simple 3-way trade:

Everitt ---> Sydney
Pick 15 ---> Carlton
Thornton ---> Hawthorn

Sydney will not give up pick 15 for Everitt. The truth is that if he went in the PSD at the money suppossedly on offer, then no one is going to touch him other than Sydney.

It will be pick 33 and no more

If Thurstans was apart of a Miller like deal, i'd take it.

Move Spida early, and get the Thornton deal done

True, true. As long as it was player for player and no draft picks departing Hawthorn I say, "why not?".

Agree on Spider. I suspect we've been in talks with Sydney all week and an agreement will be made tomorrow. I wouldn't expect it to be a three way deal as I believe we'd get what we can from Sydney in the case we don't snare Thornton.

I hope for all parties, this deal can be resolved early.

Spend the rest of the week focusing on some other minor changes, ala, like the Thurstans missed deal last year.

Sydney have just publicly stated that they are not going to give anything for Everitt as they are confident he will slip through the PSD untouched.

This is going to make picking up Thornton even harder, without additions to pick 24.

Just read that then too. A bit worrying, but I believe a deal will be reached early. I suspect it's just Sydney trying to outfox Pelchen and co in order for them to get the best deal. Remember, there are 14 clubs who get a pick before Sydney, including Collingwood, Richmond, Adelaide, the Bulldogs, St. Kilda and Geelong who could all use an experienced ruckman for two years.
