Had an injury that hampered his offseason this year as well. All indications point to that we shouldn't expect to see anything stand out from him until several rounds into the season assuming there's no more issues for him.

Yes McAsey was highly rated by draft pundits, so was Fogarty. I don't see that as a fair reason for drafting them. A bad pick is a bad pick. I get no comfort out of knowing some media hacks got it wrong too.

Watch his games closer, not so much on the box but on the field, he improving,

Exactly…the only attribute he has of being an elite key defender is that he is tall and has a longish kick.

Every other attribute is realistically below average (kicking, speed, one-on-one defending, effort, polish etc)

Where as Murray, while raw and lacks polish, ticks way more boxes and wasn’t even drafted in his year.

Like I said, he hasn't yet developed as much as we hoped......

Yep, he looked really good in U18, he just has gone backwards at a rate of knots since we drafted him.
I think Jones was a miracle that he recovered from a very slow start, I'm not sure if McAsey can do the same

Jones has good speed and a decent kick , MCAsey has nothing .

Yeh you would think our drafters when drafting would have that list you mention above of all attributes required and if you didn’t tick the main ones required for your position then you wouldn’t get drafted . He doesn’t have these now so it’s unlikely he had them in under 18s regardless of how good his under 18 year was .
