Great news as Clance commits to the club until 2016!

Fremantle midfielder Clancee Pearce has agreed to a two-year contract extension that sees him commit to the club through to the end of season 2016.
Pearce, whose previous contract expired at the end of this season, has played 69 career games, including 43 in the past two seasons under Ross Lyon.
General manager of player management Brad Lloyd said Pearce had blossomed into a quality player during the past two years.
“To see his continued development has been a credit to Clancee's commitment to his football and the effort he has put in,” Lloyd said.
“He is an important member of the playing group and we look forward to seeing him continue to play his role for the club in the coming years.”
Pearce played 19 games in 2013 but injured his Achilles in round 23 and missed the finals series.
He had surgery in the off-season and has recently resumed full training, including an appearance in the club’s intra-club match on Tuesday. The 23-year-old has also recently become a father for the first time.

Clearly best 22 IMO.. another good extension by the club.

Interesting. Do you mean as well as Suban? I like both these players, but not sure I would describe them as "clearly" best 22. I struggle to find a starting position for them and have a long list of interchange options.

HB Johnson McPharlin Duffield
C Hill Mundy D Pearce
HF Mayne Pavlich Walters
F Ballantyne Gumbleton Crozier
R Sandilands Crowley Fyfe

Perhaps clearly best 22 was a stretch.. but heading into this season i would have him in the 15-22 range. by the end of 2014 i dare say i would have him ahead of Duffield as a rebounding defender.. and for me he is more flexible than Suban and can play in the middle or backline as required. I would also say, generally a player in that best 25/26 is a "best 22" player because at no point is there ever going to be no injuries to at least 1-2 of those up to the 26 mark on the list.

The way I see it we have a raft of players between 16-30 on our list who would be worthy inclusions come game day. Gives some flexibility pending match-ups, and great depth.

I have to admit when i see the headline on Facebook, which read something like "A Freo Docker who was out of contract at the end of the 2014 season has SIGNED a contract EXTENSION." i was pretty disappointed when i read that it was Clancee.

No disrespect to Clancee at all, he just wasn't my number one choice.

The importance of Clancee was when he wasn't available for the Grand Final team .
We missed his attack on the ball and delivery of the ball into the forward line .
He is In my best 22 every time because of what he brings to the team .

The GF team wasn't our best 22 though. Maybe post up your best 22 and take a look at who is not there. This is our big debate for 2014 I reckon.

Quite agree ,no Ibbo,no Clancee as well Mcpharlin and Johnson playing injured but all teams going into finals have those problems

I really cannot get C Pearce into my best 22 even if I want to and anyway at best just makes the IC. He has to compete with Mzungu, Suban and de Boer as ready made players as well as the up and comers in Crozier, Sheridan and Sutcliffe. Crikey. He will need to make himself vital to Lyon. Can he do it? Maybe.

The way Clancee was playing before his injury was actually on the HB pushing up the ground, so its guys like Sutcliffe, Ibbo, Duffield, Spurr and Suban that are his competitors for spots.

I think that is part of his problem. Our entire backline looks like a "no vacancies" zone though in terms of best 22. He is great depth back there for sure.

I think he is preferred to sutcliffe on the HBF... bigger bodied, reads the play better, more penetrating kick, but most importantly, he is covered in tatts and has a snarly face only a mother could love. Very intimidating for opposition forwards.

Sutcliffe is too 'new kids on the block' compared to Clancy.. if sutty shaves the head, bulks up, and get an angry streak in him then I may reconsider

Our back six seems set without Clancee. However, these days it isn't as simple as that. Extra numbers get sent down back, trying to clog up space, so Pearce the defender would still have to come into calculations as part of our best 22.

I'd probably lean towards picking Clancee ahead of the likes of Sheridan, Sutcliffe, Suban, DeBoer, Neale, D.Pearce ... based on who is best suited to play in the defensive half of the ground.

Also, I wouldn't underestimate the benefits associated with his physical strength, especially in the big games against other hardened sides.

Clancee has one of the best penetrating , long kick to advantage , spotting up targets kick in our squad .
He is built like a brick shit house and is a great tackler .
He is also a good kick in front of goals and when in the midfield breaks tackle puts in great blocks and has good hands
Loves a contest ,the only reason he wouldn't be in the best 22 is if he was injured .:(
