Fisher, Bentick, Saddington or Houlihan.

Ok here are a few players who might make a good trade package if a contracted player was wanting to leave a club and come to Carlton.

Fisher: Finds the footy and can take a good mark but can't kick. Is ruining good passages of play by kicking behinds and is contributing to our teams goal kicking inaccuracy problem. I think that Edwards would contribute more to the score, wouldn't need to have as many shots to do so.

Bentick:
Is a good inside player with a strong body but is too slow and not skilled enough to get a game in our side. We don't need 1 big strong body in the center anymore as we have Judd and Stevo and Murph, Gibbs, Grigg and Browne are filling out nicely.

Saddington:
Is a good player on an opponent smaller than him, runs off half back and can find the footy well. Not good enough to get a game in our best side when Bower is fit and Austin in ready and who ever we draft is ready.

Houlihan:
Very skillful, and can play forward, midfield or back. Can kick goals. Lacks forward pressure as a forward and lacks pace and his tackling is terrible. Not what is required in a premership contender side. Probably wouldn't get a game in our best side.

There is a strong rumour that Daniel Kerr wants to leave West Coast and the rumour is that his club of choice is Carlton. If this was the case I'm sure West Coast would take these options instead of nothing. If not Kerr, perhaps another player. Kerr would be a great get, he's a complete player who can play anywhere and would have teams with no idea of who to tag.
We may not need a KPP if Kreuze keeps going the way he is and Cloke improves a little as he might.

Carlton is a club with money to spend, a bright future of finals and possible premerships, quality club personal and fairly good (soon to be awesome) facilities. We are in the box seat to get any good players who want out. I believe we have more to offer than any other AFL side in the comp.

You can not package together 4 expendable borderline 22 players and exchange them for a gun. It doesn't work that way. For a start they take up 4 valuable spots on the list. Then you have the problem of none of them being long term players. One Kerr in the hand is worth a mountain of ordinary or okay players in the bush.

Lets be realistic and put yourself in other teams shoes.

Saddington - won't get a trade for, will likely be delisted.
Bentick - 3rd round pick at best
Fisher - early 3rd round pick at best
Houlihan - won't get a decent trade for.

If your talking Kerr's and Brown's and Didak's well we're gonna have to talk Walker's, Simpson's, Waite's.

Uncontracted KPP players will be first priority for the club e.g McKinley, other than him i think it will be a relatively quiet trade period for us but no doubt those guys mentioned would be offered if were to receive a deal where we thought the cards were in our favour.

2nd round pick (26-27) + Bower might get McKinley.

walker, waite and bower are not going anywhere, vital for our future.

Why on earth would we trade Simpson when he's quick, runs hard and is a brave player who punches above his weight?

We should seriously look at trading Thornton before Fisher to get another second round pick if we can find a buyer.

I don't like saying this, but I would hang onto Fisher and Thornton until the GC comes in and starts throwing picks at clubs for senior players.

i like simpson but when it comes down to getting a player like kerr we would HAVE to get rid of one of our midfielders..that leaves murphy gibbs stevens and simpson.carazzo is playing great footy and scotland we wouldn't get much for so he should be kept.

What if Kerr wanted to leave and if they didn't take our deal they got nothing like the nick stevens trade which port lost heavily on because they wouldn't accept our offer.

If he was going to leave reguardless think of it this way.

1. Kerr goes to Carlton and WCE get Fisher Bentick and Houlihan.
2. Kerr leaves, goes into the preseason draft, probably doesn't get picked up by us but WCE get nothing for him.

You would think WCE would chose option 1 in this case.

Kerr cannot go into the Pre-season draft as he is contracted untill the end of 09.

I would want to trade Fisher but who would he appeal to? His kicking has been shocking this year and it is not improving.

Fisher + Draft Pick for McKinley ?

I'm glad someone worked this out. I think this is the reason they signed Fisher, so they can trade him to the GC. GC will be desperate for any sort of height and experience in that team and you will probably get over the odds for guys like Fisher and Thornton, whilst giving us early picks in a lock-out draft.

A lot of clubs are looking at the GC and saying "There's a chance to turn our fringe players into good draft picks."

If we're going to get Kerr we'd almost certainly have to give up our first round pick as one. What about Russell and a 2nd round pick as well? To have any chance of Kerr coming to Carlton next year some major sacrifices are going to have to be made.

How about 4 ordinary players from any club that aren't in their best 22 for Judd? The answer would be no of course. So why dream up similar stupid trades - makes no sense.

you can't just dream up trades for whichever player takes your fancy and expect other clubs to bite because you're offering a trade. i don't think wc is just going to hand mckinley to us (or anyone for that matter). i don't see them letting him go. he's young and they need to rebuild.

---

not averse to shuffling fisher off. i'd hang onto bentick. delist saddo. not sure what to do with houlihan.

FFS - will people stop talking about Kerr? Dont want him at the club. Tool. Inury prone. Past alcohol, crime and drug related problems.

Let collingwood sell their soul for him.

Should fit in nicely there.

Fish and Bentick and Houla and Saddo might get us an offer of a handful of magic beans from some club, but not much more.

Fisher might actually be a handy winger for us, and i for one am looking forward to Houla coming back into the side. The other two are destined for the VFL or SANFL though i reckon.

How can we get another second rounder? It's a very strong and deep draft and three picks in the top 30 will set us up very very nicely. Fisher? Thornton (not ideal though)? upgrade our 3rd rounder? If Kerr, Brown, McKinley etc aren't available, this should be our priority, to get as many quality picks as possible.

I think that Hoops is going to be coming back next year and will be a lot better in the forward line because he really doesnt have a future in our developing backline.

I have always be of the opinion that he is better for us off a forward flank. Thats where his skills are best and he can do the damage popping up for a couple of goals a week.

Better to keep him I think.

What about we get Kosi off the saints for Brad Fisher (they can have the set of Fishers) and a second round pick.

Kosi's is out of favor, his Trade value is low, the saints will probably look to off load him, he was deplorable on the weekend but on the positive sign he could potentially be an all Australian signing (I am not joking).

This would allow either Cam Cloke or Kreuzer to play up Forward and we would have a big body player in the ruck.

I love Cam Cloke, but the fact is he is too small to play first ruck.

Kreuzer need to be given time to develop physically.

Saints are crying out for a lead up half forward

Take a reality check mate !!! A player of Kerrs ilk is not going to be traded for 4 medicore players you have listed.. Kerris contracted so WC don't have to accpet any offer they don't think compensates them fairly.. Why would WC want 1 let alone 4 players of the queslity you have mentioned to clog up a list that hey are trading to rebuild with young quality talent..
Kerr will cost a first round pick and/or a quality established AFL player not a depth list clogger...

You are a long way off the mark mate !!!

You have no idea mate do you ??? Kerr is contracted WC are entiltled to only accpet what they consider fair compensation for him.. It isn't rocket science mate... Just forget about it none of Fisher, Bentick or Houlihan will be involved in a trade with D Kerr..

Like it or not next year Hoops will be in the starting 18 for the blues playing forward and will prove the doubters wrong which when he does it will be fitting to see all of the apology threads going around.
