You would obviously still follow Essendon if they were the Nagasaki bombers.
You aren't cut out to be North material.
Our small number isn't our weakness, it's our strength.

Why do the roos have poor commercial deals? Who agreed to them ? Forced?
Because we get crappy timeslots due to the rigged draw.
Maybe we should innovate and discover a new timeslot nobody plays in a make it our own?
They've done better than I thought, but they still should have moved.
It would be a far better situation than sharing Tassie, and they're always going to struggle as Essendon's little brother while they're in Melbourne.

You have figures to back that statement up?Indeed. The AFL cash represents about 1/25th of our turnover.
It doesn't keep us afloat.
You're wrong. On this on everything else. Scurry along now
Yeah but friday night is better when its a side thats performing, you should get some more 2013 surely, i meant more stadium deals and so on

I've learned over the last five years that North Melbourne supporters are still the same bunch of chronic whingers and bitchers who blame everybody but themselves for their lack of supporter base.
Oh and most of them have a mild bug up their arse about the non-Victorian clubs existing.

Interesting. Melbourne and Richmond both had multiple Friday night games in 2011 despite us beating them comfortably and finishing above them on the ladder in 2010. It was the same story with Richmond in 2012. Friday night games aren't linked to quality of performance.

Fair point, not sure why melbourne are there, richmond draw a crowd and hve a large fan base though

Didn't seem to struggle the last time we played.
Or over the last ten years.
Or even over in the modern era where the the premiership score is 2 all.
We're not your little brother.
You're our fat lazy twin that sits in his room playing Xbox all day and waiting for Mum to bring dinner.
And the draw is based on those fanbases. There is no rule or principle when the fixture is created linked to performance quality. In effect, there is no reward for doing well.
It depends. You'd think the run n gun attacking footy would make for great viewing. But the AFL may just decide it goes for the safety option and schedule "big teams" playing crap footy instead knowing a guaranteed portion of deadbeats will tune in no matter what.
You played Fridays because Melbourne and Richmond were already playing Saturdays at the same ground.
Didn't have shit to do with pioneering or whatever the retro-fitted version of history is at Arden St.
Pretty much, but if your side is good it shouldnt matter that much when you play.
North playing Friday games certainly made it easier to share with Melbourne and Richmond, back when Essendon and Collingwood were still happy to play at their suburban grounds. We did move to the G before we started playing Fridays, so you're wrong to suggest we only played Fridays because it was the only way we get get a share of the G. (One might argue that the Pies and Bombers decided to become MCG co-tenants after North had paved the way for them). You played Fridays because Melbourne and Richmond were already playing Saturdays at the same ground.

Is that last sentence your bumper sticker? Spare me.
I hope it works out for North, but they're going to find it much harder than other smaller clubs. The Bulldogs have the western suburbs; the Saints now have New Zealand.
We were asked to give our views, but neither you, nor any other North fan, will hear it.
What do you mean it shouldn't matter? Three of our best wins were against Geelong, Adelaide and St Kilda - all in the twilight slot on Sunday. These are games our fans didn't get to see unless they had Foxtel, and we were sublime. It matters when it comes to growing our club.

Only a fool would deny that North tried on the Friday night timeslot when no other club wanted a bar of it, and proved that the format was a winner. If that isn't 'pioneering' or 'innovation', what would you accept does merit such a description?
