Agree....Ess or GC play Thurs and the other play Fri....or both play Fri and one of the Fri games gets pushed back to Thurs and the other to Sat./Sun................but that might upset the TV rights or The Players Assoc or the media and we can't have that............it's just not on anyone's agenda to TRY and have an equal Comp...

I know it will never be equal while there are 10 teams in Melbourne, but the VFL at least should be seen to TRY and make it equal as best they can......they could start by not having Collingwood play 5 of their last 6 games at the MCG, where all their finals will probably be played...and especially after they had the arduous task of travelling outside of Melbourne a whopping 6 times in their 24 games.......pie in the sky stuff I know...and I won't be holding my breath.

One of their interstate 'trips' is to the Gold Coast in July, as requested.
It will be just be them and about 1/3 of Victoria making that trip. Hard luck.

That’s why it’s ridiculous that we are selling two home games to Darwin. When Carlton Essendon Richmond Collingwood all hardly have to travel interstate

Just realised 4 of our last 6 games of the season will be played at PFS. As hard as it was to play so few games on the Gold Coast in the first half of the season, it might actually pay massive dividends for us having 4 of 6 at home to finish the H&A season. Just wish we played less games in Darwin so we could see our boys a bit more and break up the ridiculous travel in the first half of the season.

Just a quick update for next year - both Queensland teams will host home games in Opening Round 2026 and Collingwood will play at the MCG on the Sunday night of OR, likely against St Kilda. The two Sydney clubs will host home games over the OR weekend as well. My guess is we'll either host Hawthorn or Essendon.

I’d assume Giants/Hawks since they just played a final and they can’t use Collingwood to help the GWS crowd

I really think they should be playing a game in Adelaide too, Victorians don’t realise it’s also a long weekend in SA

If we get Curnow, it’ll be Carlton even if Carlton don’t want to play in it

Personally, the whole thing should just be a split round of football over two weeks, with a focus on Northern states for a week and other states for another. Just call it Round 1 still.

Round zero with a handful of teams just messes with bye rounds too much. Not to mention that it messes with stats, record keeping, fantasy teams etc.

I suspect this was the only realistic way to keep the concept going without looking completely unfair to non-northern (Victorian mostly) teams. In particular, Collingwood, who have been required to travel to west Sydney two years in a row and feel they've done their bit to earn a home game. I still think we're going to see sell outs in the northern states and plenty of attention put on QLD + NSW teams, but of course Collingwood will take some of that attention away.

As long as they schedule big drawing teams like Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn etc against the northern teams then it'll be fine. I'd be happy for us to play one of the big drawing teams in a standalone prime time slot on either Friday or Saturday night and I think our results this year have shown we deserve that.
