Some more on Geelong proposed fixture (from Geelong Addy)
  • Only 7 games at Skilled Stadium, first in Round 4 vs Port Adelaide
  • 4 home games in Melbourne (most likely all at the MCG) - vs Collingwood, Carlton, Hawthorn & Essendon
  • 7 or 8 games at the MCG
  • Round 1 vs Essendon on Friday night @ MCG
  • Play Collingwood twice
Article also says that club has asked the AFL for an extra game at Skilled vs an interstate side so I'm guessing that if that changes will come at the expense of one of the Melbourne "home" games.
**** off! Seriously though I hate playing at that windy/cold/wet shithole.

Not sure why they stripped us of one, unless it's because of redevelopments reducing crowds. Four home games at the MCG is still good though, especially considering you'd expect at least the first three to make the 8, and maybe even the 4, and Essendon who draw strong crowds regardless. Big games provide ideal preparation for finals, so I can't say I'm too upset.

I think you'll find that the fixture will be finalised about 4-6 weeks out. Still plenty of time to book flights and hotels and save money.

Round 22 to aim for 'flexibility'

8:34 AM Tue 20 October, 2009
FOR THE first time, round 22 of the 2010 AFL fixture will feature a 'floating' round, with the times and dates of matches to be announced after round 21, pending the make-up of the likely finalists.

Geelong are never happy, they get 4 MCG home games against the Big 4 Victorian clubs and want to give one up for a game at Skilled against a crap opposition? The AFL even offered to move one of the other games to Skilled, but they turned that down, so they want to give up a big MCG crowd for a home game? Why not just move on of the big 4 down there?

can Collingwood play Collingwood.

we are the only team that doesn't increase our attendances by playing Collingwood.

if Demetriou extends the number of teams in the AFL, maybe we can get a Collingwood 1 and a Collingwood 2.

that way we can improve our yearly attendance like everyone who plays us does.

My apologies then, I was under the impression that the AFL was going to give fans at least a month to 6 weeks notice about the final round so that travel could be booked. Also to give networks time to arrange broadcasts and the like. Typical of the AFL though they either don't do enough or go too far when trying to solve a problem.

Pure genius! :p

I think i'd be happy with what they've been offered to be honest. I'd probably send the Hawthorn game down to Geelong if they were insistant of having 8 games there.

Dont think they'll get what they are asking for in this instance. I've got a feeling that besides the Grand Final rematch debarkle i'll be pretty happy with the fixture for 2010

Or it could be because of no daylight savings, and therefore it's a normal starting time. This year the game started at 6.10, I think it will the same again next year. 6.10 is a great start time.

If it's still daylight savings time then the Brisbane game is at a normal time anyway.
