If we don't get to play the Saints in Round 1 as a Home Game then we should at least get a Home Game at Kardinia Park in Round 1 to unfurl the flag.
We had to travel over to Feral Park in Round 1 of 2008, despite the fact we wanted to unfurl the Flag at home in Round 1.
And Hawthorn got to unfurl the flag at home in Round 1 this year, despite the fact we didn't get to last year. That's crap IMO.
I think it has been confirmed that Skilled Stadium won't be ready to host its first match until round 5 or 6 (despite the fact that the new stand will be finished in late March) due to the surface overhaul they are doing to the ground over the summer.

but it's a Sunday night. Will the away team be able to get back early enough to not wreck their recovery

I think one of two things will happen (if this 8:30 (EST) game is true)

you'll be suprised and you get a Western Derby on ANZAC Day

or, the travelling team will stay in Perth for the week and play West Coast at Subi the next round.

They could be back in Victoria by early Monday morning. Fixture them for the Sunday afternoon/twilight game the following week. They are supposedly elite athletes. One short week is not going to ruin their season.

The ANZAC fixture won't be a derby. The AFL like to maximise attendences at as many games as possible so these two will remain as stand alone games.

In the Advertiser today it mentions that Adelaide will play two Friday night games at home and one away and will travel to Melbourne six times, Perth twice, and Brisbane and Launceston once.

Bulldogs Vs Crows won't happen, in adelaide that is anyway, maybe in melbourne?

Dogs are playing swans twice this year apparently. (dunno if its been said.)

Johno's 350th game, that is a MASSIVE milestone.
Barry Hall's first game for the dogs.
= Money.

The AFL will want the Bulldogs playing in Melbourne first game.

But you never know with them, it could still happen.

The AFL aren't known to care about milestones...

The AFL aren't going to plan their fixtures around a milestone. He could miss with injury, what are you going to do then?

ANZAC Day triple header

Coll vs Ess @ 2:30pm
Haw vs ??? @ 5:30pm (TAS)
Freo vs ??? @ 8:30pm
According to the Mercury, Hawthorn v North on ANZAC Day at York Park.
Brisbane are again being considered a Victorian team by the AFL due to the Fitzroy heritage, and are the other "Vic" team (the contract requires two a year) to play in Launceston.

i'll be stoked if we don't play your mob at AAMI again

so that means we wont have 2 games vs Sydney :(

why in Brisbane. That's one of two trips I wouldnt want to be making in 10 (other being Saints at Etihad)

West Coast there. Hope it's mid year, early in the year and cox and kerr will play, and by the end of the year they'll probably be back from injury

why do we have to travel to 5 of the 6 non victorian teams? mathamatically we should only have to travel to 2 or 3 of them. Looks like some Victorian teams wont be travelling much

Well we have to travel 11 times... we need to play somewhere! I'm glad we get a lot of games in Melbourne though, we have a good record in Victoria.

I'm looking forward to the Brisbane game. Initially I thought we'd go to Sydney instead, as we've been to Brisbane for two years in a row, but I think we're in our best position to knock off the Lions at the Gabba for once.
