Great news if true. Let’s hope it is long term this time around.

Do find it funny that we only get given these games after we win the premiership and then they take it away as soon as we miss finals and only get it back when we start playing well again. Yet Essendon/Carlton and the like can stink it up year after year and not only keep their big games but also get new ones.

We have played Collingwood a few times in round one over the years.

2017, 2010, 2006, 1993

We need to Buckley the trend, because the results of those games have gone Pies, Dogs, Pies, Dogs. Ideally we beat them by 15 goals, end the round on top of the ladder like we did in 2016, and go on to win the flag. Also like the Swans did in 2012, the Cats in 2008, the Power in 2004 and the Bombers in 2000.

Mate we played Richmond Round 1 2006 (flogged them by 100 something points) I’m assuming you made a typo and meant 2005, a Monday at the MCG.

Apparently we are......Nth vs Dogs Good Friday

Although this is good news for us, the AFL have been laughable with Good Friday since introducing it.

1st Good Friday: Norf vs us, good game, 40K attend.

2nd Good Friday: Changed to Norf vs St Kilda for some reason despite the success of the previous season. Rubbish game (not AFL’s fault but not like St Kilda were a huge draw card) and crowd above 30K.

3rd Good Friday: Norf vs Essendon, rubbish game, excellent 45K crowd (not meaning much as Essendon have 4 trillion supporters)

4th Good Friday: Back to us apparently.

Shouldn’t be all that surprised though is making stuff up on the fly has long been the MO of the AFL.

Hoping that we don't get Collingwood twice back to back years, and North twice for the billionth time the past decade. Which I am worried will be the case given they are our early opponents. Just want a fresh fixture for once and play new teams/teams we haven't doubled up on in years,

Stoked we got a blockbuster game to open up the season though.

We have to get [at least] North twice. (due to finishing positions.)
Shouldn't be a bad overall draw for us, as we play;
North, Ess, Hawks (?), Port and Crows twice.

2 trips to Adelaide, but Crows likely poor...
...and can't see any being big improvers.

[Edit: Hawks question mark is about 'ease of game', not whether it will happen.]

I'm guessing that's the entire middle six? The AFL doesn't fixture the fixture by top 6, middle 6, and bottom six all exactly playing each other twice. Even though it is how it should be. Blockbusters, specialty games, derby's and grand final rematches etc, stuffs all that up anyway.

They have a specific formula that is kind of all over the place. But it would see us likely facing two top 6 teams twice, two middle six teams twice and a bottom six team once Or it could be two bottom six, two middle six, one top 6, or even three middle six and one each of the rest. We are pretty much set to double up against at least one team from the bottom six and one from the top 6, with the rest alternating in between.

Out of those teams you mentioned, all would be good match ups for us on paper. Will likely face two of those twice.

Like I said I am not too fussed who we get twice. Just like to keep it fresh and rotate the teams more, instead of playing the same ones.

Gotta love Pie fans. Many have penciled Round 1 as a win. Whilst at the same time showing the self entitled big boy attitude, by expressing their anger that its not played at the MCG. Because its Round 1, and a Friday, and that we don't deserve to be the home team.
