Yep, this has been a bugbear of a group of us for the Etihad games this season. It's mostly relevant if you're sitting on level-1 as it's directly behind the players. And they're very bright too... Usually bright red or bright blue.
 
I don't mind them really. I actually like that they're personalised for the home team.

Only issues is whether they distract the players. Nathan Brown on Friday had to shield his eyes taking a mark off a switch. Not sure if it was the lights or advertising but it seemed like a relatively low trajectory pass to me.
 
don't annoy me nearly as much as those painted-on-the-grass-so-as-to-pop-out-in-the-right-perspective-on-television ads that every other sport has.

Sat on level 1 Etihad for the Lewis/Hodge game and it was very distracting, especially the ads that have the footy moving back and forward. The ball is in a pack and then an electronic footy comes flying out one side and then another and then it goes the other way and it's like wtf where is the actual footy?

The worst bit though was at the opening bounce of the game. All of a sudden some red/pink ad comes on right as the ball was bounced and the whole stadium goes from the normal bright white colour to this dim pink colour, my first reaction was that the lights had gone out.
 
The AFL big wigs will stop at nothing to get their grubby hands on more money. Speaking as a member of the Eagles the match day experience gets worse every year. The ads over the PA during the breaks are deafening. Literally have to yell at people right next to you just to have a chat at half time.
 
Set right on the fence level 1 at etihad every week, only time it bothered me was the first home game when they hadn't dimmed the brightness yet. Forget all about it now though.

Interesting how the afl operates. Want to capitalise on as much money as possible,will advertise on anything and everything...reminds me of the movie baseketball. Yet also makes changes tot the game to reduce the speed of players by interchange cap and sub rule that effectively slow the game and make it less attractive for the fans.

Everyone knows the u.s love the consumer dollar,but check out an nba game. Very little advertising in the arenas, the teams are not even allowed sponsors on guernseys,fans sit as closs to possible to court (admittedly easyier to achieve in a basketball game) but they also introduce rules to improve the experience of the fans with rules such as no zone defence and speed of play violations.

The afl is becoming less and less a sport and more a money making tool.

Should go to game at Kardinia, the PA system is basically non existent.

I think it depends where you sit in terms how distracting you find it.

So I'm assuming you hated the old ones that rolled over, since they were constantly moving as well?
